Sample interview questions
How have you built a candidate pipeline before a requisition was formally opened?

I begin by meeting with capture and program stakeholders to understand anticipated labor categories, skills, clearance requirements, timing, and likely hiring volumes. I then create targeted talent maps, source and engage relevant candidates, document their qualifications and availability, and maintain a bid-specific pipeline that can be activated quickly when the opportunity moves forward.

Describe how you would recruit for a proposal with a compressed deadline and hard-to-find cleared talent requirements.

I would establish a daily operating cadence with capture leadership, prioritize the most critical labor categories, and use a combination of clearance-focused platforms, referrals, prior candidate networks, and targeted outreach. I would track pipeline status and risks in real time, present qualified candidates quickly, and escalate gaps with recommended alternatives such as adjacent skill profiles, internal candidates, or revised sourcing channels.

How do you balance speed with candidate quality and compliance in high-volume recruiting?

I use structured intake requirements, consistent screening criteria, accurate ATS documentation, and clear candidate communications to move efficiently without compromising quality. I also maintain awareness of EEO/OFCCP practices, ensure disposition data is complete, and use standardized processes to support fair, defensible hiring decisions.

What metrics would you report to Talent Acquisition and capture leadership?

I would report pipeline volume and quality by labor category, qualified candidate submissions, interview and offer conversion rates, time to slate, source effectiveness, candidate response rates, and at-risk requisitions. For proposal work, I would also highlight clearance eligibility, availability, contingent interest, and readiness of resume packages for each bid.

How would you build trust with Capture Managers and Program Managers in a remote environment?

I would set clear expectations during intake, provide concise and reliable updates, and make recruiting data visible so stakeholders understand progress and risks. By proactively surfacing upcoming needs, offering recommendations instead of only reporting problems, and following through on commitments, I would become a dependable strategic partner.
