About this role.
Paddle is hiring a Senior Analytics Engineer to develop trusted marketing and go-to-market data products, reporting layers, and scalable analytics infrastructure. Sample interview questions
I would first align stakeholders on canonical funnel stages, grain, ownership, and timestamps. I would build staged source models, standardized identity and campaign mappings, and a tested fact model that preserves historical stage transitions. I would document assumptions, monitor completeness and freshness, and expose business-friendly metrics through governed semantic layers.
I would explain the issue's impact in business terms, trace the lineage from the dashboard to source records, and quantify affected records and metrics. I would coordinate with source-system owners to fix the upstream process where possible, add dbt tests and monitoring to prevent recurrence, and communicate the correction and any reporting restatement clearly to stakeholders.
I would use modular staging, intermediate, and mart layers; consistent naming; reusable macros; source freshness checks; schema and custom tests; model contracts where appropriate; and thorough model documentation. I would also apply code review, CI checks, ownership conventions, and exposure definitions so downstream dashboards and operational uses have clear lineage.
I would be transparent about attribution limitations and triangulate across available evidence, such as tagged campaign activity, lead and opportunity progression, conversion rates, cohort performance, spend, and incremental or holdout-style comparisons where feasible. I would separate observed attribution from causal conclusions and prioritize instrumentation improvements for future measurement.
I start with well-defined, curated datasets and metrics rather than asking users to navigate raw tables. I provide concise documentation, examples, training sessions, office hours, and feedback loops, while using permissions and semantic definitions to keep sensitive data and key metrics governed. I measure adoption and recurring questions to continuously improve the data product.
What do we do?
Paddle offers digital product companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.
We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 6000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.
The Role:
We are seeking a Senior Analytics Engineer to drive significant business impact by shaping our data infrastructure, developing robust data models, and promoting best practices in analytics engineering (e.g., data quality, documentation, and scalable data architectures). You will collaborate closely with the Marketing team in order to ensure that funnels are being tracked and surfaced in our data models and that Marketing campaigns can be evaluated using accurate data.
What you’ll do:
Create trusted, self-serve datasets and reporting layers in Omni that power Marketing performance reviews, campaign reporting, attribution analysis, funnel health monitoring, and investment decision-making.
Proactively identify and resolve data quality issues across Marketing and GTM systems, including source tracking, campaign metadata, funnel stage completeness, attribution coverage, and spend data.
Add comprehensive metadata to datasets, including documentation, lineage, ownership, definitions, data quality checks, and sensitive data masking.
Partner with Marketing stakeholders to translate business questions into robust data products, dashboards, analyses, and decision-ready insights.
Enable Marketing teams to confidently use Omni and core GTM datasets through documentation, training, office hours, and self-serve resources.
Activate data from Snowflake into operational tools where needed, supporting audience segmentation, lifecycle programmes, campaign optimisation, or GTM workflows.
We’d love to hear from you:
Extensive experience in analytics engineering or related data roles, with demonstrated expertise in advanced SQL, dbt, and Snowflake.
Proficient in using BI tools (e.g. Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, Snowsight) to deliver clear, actionable insights for business stakeholders.
Skilled in performing data ingestion and activation using no-code tools (e.g. Fivetran, Stitch), ensuring efficient data integration into operational systems.
Knowledgeable in managing metadata, documentation, data quality checks, and sensitive data masking effectively.
Effective at collaborating closely with diverse stakeholders, understanding their data needs, and delivering impactful solutions.
Experienced in conducting training sessions and providing informal mentorship to junior analytics team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
Familiar with Marketing and GTM data concepts such as campaign tracking, attribution, funnel stages, lead/account lifecycle, pipeline generation, paid media, web analytics, CRM data, and marketing automation data.
Experienced with common GTM tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Marketo, Google Analytics, ad platforms, enrichment tools, or similar. The exact stack is less important than the ability to understand how GTM data is created, transformed, and used.
Comfortable working across Marketing, RevOps, Sales, Finance, and Data to align definitions, reporting logic, and ownership.
