Sample interview questions
I would begin with stakeholder interviews and workflow discovery across priority practice groups, legal operations, knowledge management, and IT. I would assess data readiness, governance requirements, user pain points, and measurable business outcomes, then prioritize a small number of high-value, low-friction use cases. The roadmap would include pilots, success metrics, enablement plans, executive sponsorship, and a phased scale-up model informed by adoption data.
I would quickly establish the root causes through usage data, stakeholder conversations, and a review of the original value case. I would present a transparent remediation plan with clear owners, milestones, training or workflow interventions, and executive checkpoints, while partnering internally with Sales and technical teams. Throughout the process, I would connect improvements to the client's stated business objectives and communicate progress proactively.
I tailor the narrative to the audience and combine quantitative indicators with credible workflow evidence. Metrics may include active adoption, time saved in document-intensive processes, matter-cycle improvements, knowledge reuse, risk reduction, and user satisfaction. I clearly distinguish validated results from projections and link the findings to the firm's strategic priorities, such as attorney productivity, client service, profitability, and governance.
I start with the client's objectives and unmet workflow needs rather than with a product-first sales motion. By regularly reviewing adoption patterns, stakeholder priorities, and adjacent use cases, I can identify where additional capabilities would create genuine value. I then build a business case with the client, aligning any recommendation to measurable outcomes, implementation readiness, and the broader account roadmap.
I would map each stakeholder's goals, authority, concerns, and decision criteria early in the engagement. I would use structured governance, shared success metrics, and concise executive communication to create alignment around the highest-priority outcomes. When conflicts remain, I would surface tradeoffs clearly, offer evidence-based options, and seek a decision through the agreed executive sponsor or governance forum.

About the position
NetDocuments is seeking a Legal Innovation Partner to be a senior individual contributor embedded in the firm relationships that matter most to NetDocuments. You are not a typical customer success manager — you are an expert in legal AI strategy and transformation who serves as the primary strategic advisor to a portfolio of law firm and legal department clients. You are responsible for their success with NetDocuments, and you own the renewal and expansion of that book of business.
You will guide clients through every stage of their AI adoption journey — from understanding their current workflow and identifying high-impact use cases, through implementation, change management, and measurement of outcomes. Your clients trust you not just as a vendor contact, but as a thought partner. When they have a question about what legal AI means for their firm, you are who they call.
What You’ll Do
- Own a portfolio of strategic law firm and legal department client relationships, serving as the primary advisor and point of accountability for their NetDocuments experience and AI transformation journey
- Drive renewal and expansion within your assigned book of business — maintaining high net revenue retention rates and identifying meaningful upsell and cross-sell opportunities aligned to client needs
- Develop and execute tailored AI adoption roadmaps for each client, working with firm leadership and legal technology teams to identify the highest-value use cases and build measurable adoption plans
- Lead executive-level business reviews with firm management committees, CIOs, and Chief Innovation Officers — communicating ROI, adoption performance, and strategic direction clearly and confidently
- Identify and escalate at-risk accounts proactively, partnering with Sales and Forward Deployed Engineers to develop and execute remediation plans
- Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to channel client feedback into the product roadmap, advocating for the features and integrations that will drive adoption and stickiness in your portfolio
- Contribute to the development of the LIP playbook — sharing what works with the broader Legal Innovation Partner team and helping establish best practices for AI transformation engagement
- Represent NetDocuments at legal technology conferences, client advisory boards, and industry events
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need to be Successful
- 8+ years of experience in legal technology, legal operations, enterprise customer success, or management consulting focused on the legal sector
- Fluent in using AI for legal workflows and legal use
- Direct experience owning client relationships and renewal/expansion outcomes in a B2B SaaS or legal technology environment
- Fluency in law firm operations — you understand how firms are structured, how decisions get made, how technology is evaluated and adopted, and what drives attorney behavior
- JD or equivalent legal industry experience strongly preferred. Prior law firm practice (associate or counsel level) is a significant advantage in establishing credibility with firm leadership
- Proven ability to build trusted advisory relationships with senior law firm stakeholders, including partners, COOs, CIOs, and practice group leaders.
- Comfort navigating complex, multi-stakeholder organizations and moving multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to design and deliver compelling client presentations and ROI narratives
- Familiarity with legal AI applications, document management systems, and the broader LegalTech ecosystem
- Ability to travel up to 25% to client sites and industry events
