Sample interview questions
I listen for the speaker’s complete thought, interpret the meaning rather than translating word-for-word, and maintain the original tone and register. When clarification is necessary, I ask concise, neutral questions and avoid adding my own interpretation.
I follow the applicable code of professional conduct, interpret only what is said, and never discuss or retain call information. I also use a private, secure workspace and ensure that no unauthorized person can hear the conversation.
I would request clarification from the speaker in a professional and impartial manner, then interpret the clarified information accurately. I would not guess or substitute terminology that could change the meaning.
I maintain a quiet, private area with reliable internet, a tested headset and camera, and access to the required web platforms. Before availability periods, I verify my equipment, connectivity, and environment so I can respond promptly to inbound calls.
I politely explain that my role is to facilitate communication rather than provide advice or advocate for either party. I interpret the request faithfully and, if appropriate, direct the parties to communicate with each other or the relevant professional.
