Sample interview questions
How have you built and quality-assured a campaign in Marketo?

I start with the campaign brief, audience criteria, timeline, and success metrics. I configure the program, assets, smart campaigns, channels, tags, and UTM parameters, then use test records to validate emails, form capture, member status progression, and downstream CRM sync before launch.

How would you investigate a lead-routing issue between Marketo and Salesforce?

I would first reproduce the issue with a test lead and review Marketo activity logs, smart campaign qualifications, field values, and sync status. Then I would check Salesforce assignment rules, queues, ownership fields, and any integration dependencies, document the root cause, and confirm the fix with stakeholders.

What steps would you take to maintain high-quality campaign and lead data?

I would establish consistent naming conventions, required fields, normalized values, and regular audit routines. I would monitor duplicates, incomplete records, invalid values, campaign membership, and attribution fields, then use findings to improve intake forms, processes, and documentation.

How do you communicate technical campaign requirements to non-technical marketers?

I translate requirements into clear outcomes, timelines, and simple checklists rather than platform jargon. For example, I explain why an approved audience definition, UTM structure, form fields, and SLA are needed, while taking responsibility for the underlying Marketo and Salesforce configuration.

Describe a process improvement you would identify in a marketing operations workflow.

I would map the existing request-to-launch process, measure recurring delays or errors, and identify manual steps that can be standardized or automated. I would propose a practical improvement such as a campaign intake template, reusable Marketo program template, or pre-launch QA checklist, pilot it with users, and track whether it improves turnaround time and accuracy.
