Sample interview questions
How do you research and prioritize accounts before beginning outbound outreach?

I start by defining the ideal customer profile, then use public information and CRM data to identify organizations that match it. I map likely decision-makers, review their current initiatives and challenges, and prioritize accounts based on fit, potential impact, and engagement signals.

Describe your approach to a cold call with a school or nonprofit prospect.

I prepare a concise hypothesis about the organization's needs and open with a relevant, respectful reason for calling. I ask discovery-oriented questions, listen for priorities or constraints, connect the value proposition to what I hear, and seek agreement on a clear next step rather than forcing a full pitch.

How do you maintain outreach quality while managing a high volume of prospects?

I use structured sequences, CRM tasks, and templates for repeatable steps, but personalize the opening and value message for priority accounts. I track activity and conversion metrics so I can improve messaging without sacrificing accurate notes or timely follow-up.

What would you do if an outbound campaign generated activity but few qualified meetings?

I would review the funnel by segment, channel, persona, and message to locate where conversion declines. Then I would test changes such as sharper targeting, different subject lines, stronger call-to-action language, or revised qualification questions, and share findings with sales and marketing.

How do you build credibility with prospects when selling into an unfamiliar industry?

I learn the industry's terminology, buying process, stakeholders, and common challenges before outreach. During conversations, I remain curious, avoid unsupported assumptions, and use focused questions to understand each prospect's context so I can offer a relevant and credible next step.
