Sample interview questions
I would establish a small, documented design-token layer for typography, spacing, color, and breakpoints, then build composable primitives and section-level components with clear APIs. I would use Storybook or an equivalent preview environment, enforce accessibility standards in the components, and avoid over-generalizing until recurring content patterns justify abstraction.
I would begin with field and lab measurements to identify the primary LCP, INP, and CLS contributors. Typical improvements include optimizing and reserving space for images, reducing client-side JavaScript, code-splitting noncritical features, using server rendering where appropriate, preloading critical assets, and deferring third-party scripts through a tag-management strategy.
I would define a single primary hypothesis and success metric, establish guardrail metrics, and ensure users are consistently assigned to a variant. I would validate analytics events before launch, keep the experiment isolated behind a feature flag, monitor performance and errors, and wait for an adequate sample size before drawing conclusions.
I would model content around reusable page sections and validate schemas so editors have flexibility without breaking layouts. On the frontend, I would create typed content adapters, support preview workflows, use caching and revalidation appropriate to publishing needs, and provide safe fallbacks for incomplete or malformed content.
I first clarify which details are essential to the visual system and user experience, then implement them through reusable tokens and components rather than one-off CSS. I compare against the design at key breakpoints, test real content and accessibility behavior, and document intentional deviations when they improve responsiveness, performance, or maintainability.
