Sample interview questions
How do you build an expansion pipeline within an existing commercial account?

I start by reviewing product usage, renewal timing, organizational changes, and current stakeholder relationships. I map business units and executive priorities, identify high-value workflows where additional Smartsheet capabilities can help, then multi-thread with business and technical champions to validate a measurable opportunity.

Describe how you use MEDDICC to qualify a strategic deal.

I document metrics and the economic buyer early, clarify the customer's decision criteria and decision process, and identify their pain and compelling event. I also build a coach relationship and confirm the paper process, updating each area in the CRM so the forecast reflects verified deal health rather than optimism.

How would you coordinate Sales Engineering, Customer Success, and an SDR on a large account?

I would establish a joint account plan with defined outcomes, stakeholder coverage, roles, and next actions. The SDR supports targeted prospecting, the Sales Engineer validates technical and solution fit, and Customer Success shares adoption and value insights; I keep the team aligned through regular deal reviews and a single customer engagement plan.

What would you do if a renewal account had low adoption but significant expansion potential?

I would first partner with Customer Success to understand adoption barriers, current outcomes, and executive sentiment. I would prioritize a recovery plan tied to the customer's objectives, demonstrate value from existing use cases, and only introduce expansion after establishing a credible path to successful adoption and renewal.

How do you maintain forecast accuracy in a quota-carrying role?

I use objective exit criteria for each stage, validate customer commitments and next steps, and inspect risks such as access to the economic buyer, procurement, and competition. I update Salesforce promptly, distinguish committed deals from upside, and communicate changes early with a clear action plan.
