Sample interview questions
How do you coach CSMs to manage complex strategic accounts with multiple executive stakeholders?

I start by ensuring each account has a documented stakeholder map, success plan, measurable value outcomes, and clear engagement cadence. I coach CSMs to tailor messages to each stakeholder’s priorities, then use account reviews to identify relationship gaps, decision risks, and next actions.

Describe your approach to improving renewal outcomes across a portfolio.

I establish an early renewal process that begins with health scoring, adoption trends, outcome evidence, commercial milestones, and executive alignment. I review at-risk accounts regularly, assign clear mitigation owners, and partner with Sales early when expansion, pricing, or contractual strategy is required.

How would you handle an escalation from a high-value client?

I would quickly confirm the business impact, establish an accountable cross-functional response team, and communicate a transparent action plan to the client. I would provide regular updates, track commitments through resolution, and conduct a post-resolution review to prevent recurrence and rebuild confidence.

How have you used data and AI tools to improve customer success operations?

I use portfolio data to surface adoption gaps, usage changes, renewal risks, and expansion signals, then convert those insights into prioritized outreach and success-plan actions. AI tools can help summarize client feedback, prepare account briefs, and identify trends, provided outputs are validated and used responsibly.

How do you balance retention responsibilities with identifying growth opportunities?

I view growth as an extension of demonstrated value rather than a separate sales motion. My team first confirms that client goals are being met, then collaborates with Sales to identify relevant capabilities or services that address validated client priorities.
