The role, at a glance.

TRM Labs is seeking a senior business development executive to create strategic access and qualified enterprise opportunities with financial institutions across APAC. The role centers on activating an established network of bank, digital-asset, compliance, financial-crime, risk, and innovation leaders rather than building a network from scratch. The position is Singapore-based and remote, requires 30–40% travel, and operates in a high-velocity, high-ownership environment with strong expectations for applied AI fluency.

Sample interview questions
How would you convert an existing relationship with a senior bank executive into a qualified opportunity for TRM?

I would begin by validating the executive’s current priorities and mapping where digital-asset risk, investigations, compliance, or threat intelligence creates a material gap. I would then build a multi-threaded stakeholder map across compliance, financial-crime, risk, investigations, innovation, and procurement; align TRM’s value to a concrete use case; and agree on a next step with clear success criteria, ownership, and timeline.

Describe how you would build a strategic account plan for a major APAC financial institution.

I would define the account’s business priorities, regulatory environment, digital-asset posture, and existing investigation or compliance workflows. Next, I would identify executive sponsors, functional champions, technical evaluators, blockers, and partner influences, then develop tailored engagement paths for each. The plan would include event and executive-meeting strategy, opportunity hypotheses, mutual action plans, risk signals, and a structured process for feeding insights back to internal teams.

What metrics would you use to demonstrate that relationship-led business development is producing value?

I would track senior stakeholder access, number and quality of multi-threaded strategic accounts, qualified opportunities created, opportunity progression, influenced pipeline, conversion rates, sales-cycle velocity, and partner-sourced or partner-influenced outcomes. I would also report qualitative market signals, including recurring objections, buying triggers, regulatory concerns, and product gaps, because these insights improve long-term go-to-market execution.

How do you use AI in your business-development workflow while maintaining judgment and confidentiality?

I use AI to accelerate account research, synthesize public regulatory and company information, prepare meeting briefs, identify stakeholder hypotheses, draft tailored outreach, and summarize non-confidential pipeline notes. I validate all outputs against reliable sources, never treat generated content as factual without review, and follow company policies for sensitive customer data and confidential information.

How would you handle a senior prospect who is interested in blockchain intelligence but has no approved project or budget?

I would avoid forcing a premature sales process and instead clarify the underlying trigger, affected teams, urgency, and consequences of maintaining the status quo. I would provide relevant market insight or a focused use-case discussion, cultivate internal champions across affected functions, and establish a practical path toward a defined evaluation or executive workshop. The objective is to create a credible, mutually agreed opportunity rather than count an unqualified introduction as pipeline.

Build a Safer World.

TRM Labs provides AI-powered intelligence solutions that help public and private sector agencies investigate and disrupt crime. TRM’s platforms enable investigators to trace illicit activity, build cases, and construct operating pictures of threat networks. Leading agencies and businesses worldwide rely on TRM to make the world safer and more secure.

You will expand TRM’s strategic access across the APAC financial institution ecosystem. This is a senior individual contributor role, designed for someone who already has deep credibility and trusted relationships across banks, and financial institutions. You are not being hired to build a network from scratch. You are being hired to activate a network you have already earned. This is not a traditional closing-quota sales role. Your mandate is to open senior-level conversations, multi-thread strategic accounts, create qualified enterprise opportunities, and help TRM become part of the most important digital asset, financial crime, and compliance conversations happening inside major financial institutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Open senior-level access at priority APAC financial institutions by activating a network you have already built.

  • Build multi-threaded relationships across the stakeholders who shape digital asset strategy, financial crime programs, compliance priorities, investigations, risk, and innovation.

  • Help TRM earn a seat in the most important conversations happening inside strategic financial institutions Identify and pursue high-value enterprise and partnership opportunities with banks and other financial institutions.

  • Represent TRM externally at conferences, executive forums, practitioner communities, and industry events, turning public presence and private conversations into qualified opportunities.

  • Partner closely with Sales, Product, Marketing, and Policy to turn strategic access into qualified customer opportunities, market insight, and long-term competitive advantage.

  • Close the loop between field signal and internal strategy by feeding customer insights, buying dynamics, objections, and market intelligence back into TRM’s product and GTM teams.

What We’re Looking For

  • Deep, credible network across APAC financial institutions, ideally from having been head of digital assets at a bank, or from operating at a crypto infrastructure firm

  • Comfortable being customer-facing and public-facing: conferences, panels, thought leadership

  • Track record of turning relationships into real pipeline, not just introductions

  • Already uses AI day-to-day for research, prospecting, and pipeline management, with a concrete workflow to point to

Hard Requirements

  • Based in Singapore, remote

  • Willing to travel 30-40% for conferences and in-person account work

  • Direct experience with financial institutions or crypto-native infrastructure companies serving them in APAC
