AI insightThe disclosed compensation is $30 USD per completed chart review, with additional patient-care and collaboration earnings varying by state and activity. Sample interview questions
How do you approach psychiatric assessment and medication management in a telehealth setting?

I use a structured virtual assessment that confirms patient identity and location, reviews symptoms and history, evaluates safety risks, and establishes an evidence-based treatment plan. I document thoroughly, discuss benefits and risks of medication options, and ensure patients understand follow-up and emergency-care procedures.

What is your experience collaborating with or supervising Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners?

I prioritize clear collaborative agreements, accessible consultation, and consistent documentation standards. My approach includes reviewing charts on schedule, discussing complex diagnostic or medication cases promptly, and offering clinically grounded guidance while respecting each provider’s scope and professional judgment.

How would you maintain responsiveness while working with autonomy over your patient schedule?

I would establish reliable communication routines, defined availability windows, and escalation procedures for NP collaboration requests. This allows me to preserve scheduling flexibility while meeting required turnaround times and ensuring continuity of care.

How do you handle a patient who presents with elevated safety risk during a virtual visit?

I conduct an immediate risk assessment, identify the patient’s exact physical location and available supports, and determine the appropriate level of intervention. Depending on the risk, I involve emergency services, crisis resources, family or supports when authorized, and document the assessment and actions taken clearly.

How do you ensure your clinical decisions comply with differing state telehealth and prescribing requirements?

I stay current on the laws and professional standards applicable to each state where I am licensed, including telehealth prescribing rules and collaboration requirements. I use compliant workflows, seek clarification when regulations change, and make independent clinical decisions based on patient needs and applicable standards.

UpLift & BetterHelp – Redefining Access to Mental Healthcare

At UpLift, we believe mental health is just as important as physical health — and we’re rethinking the mental healthcare model. UpLift is a multi-sided marketplace, applying technology to empower patients to find Therapists and Psychiatric providers covered by their insurance plan.

While 1 in 5 Americans struggle with mental health issues, only 40% of this group received care in the last year. At the same time, only 30% of therapists accept insurance. UpLift acts as the bridge between patient, provider, and insurer — empowering patients to find the best care for their needs at a price they can afford.

Why Join UpLift

  • Flexible earnings model*: Compensation includes both patient care and collaboration activities. Physicians can also earn $30 per completed chart review. Total monthly earnings may vary based on state coverage and activity.
  • Expand access to care: Provide psychiatric services to individuals who otherwise may not have access to mental healthcare.
  • Collaborative model: Support and supervise Nurse Practitioners (NPs) through formal collaboration agreements, including chart reviews and consultation.
  • All-in-one virtual platform: Focus on your patients — UpLift handles credentialing, enrollment, and platform operations.
  • Work from anywhere: This role is 100% remote, with care delivered via UpLift’s purpose-built telemedicine platform.
  • Flexible commitment: Part-time, 1099 contract position with autonomy over your clinical schedule.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct video consultations and communicate with patients via telemedicine.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients, including prescribing medication when clinically appropriate.
  • Provide supervision and oversight to Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in states requiring collaborative agreements.
  • Complete required chart reviews and provide timely consultation support to NPs.
  • Maintain responsiveness for collaboration duties in accordance with state requirements and UpLift standards.
  • Coordinate care with UpLift’s network of therapists and other providers to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Provide empathetic, evidence-based care while upholding UpLift’s clinical and service standards.
  • Share product and workflow feedback with UpLift’s engineering and operations teams to help improve care delivery.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Board-certified Psychiatrist with active clinical experience.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license(s) in one or more of the following priority states: Virginia, Texas, Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina.
  • Multi-state licensure strongly preferred.
  • Experience supervising or collaborating with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners (e.g. NPs) is preferred.
  • Comfortable prescribing medication when clinically appropriate and permitted by state law.
  • Skilled at using online tools and technology to deliver virtual care.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to provide timely consultation support.
  • Previous telemedicine experience is a plus.

Important to Know

  • This is a part-time, contract (1099) position — not a salaried employee role.
  • Physicians may set their own schedules for patient care; however, collaboration responsibilities require ongoing responsiveness.
  • Physicians may stop seeing patients at any time, but collaborative agreement responsibilities require a 120-day wind-down period to ensure continuity of care.
  • Compensation structure varies by state depending on collaboration requirements (capped vs. uncapped states).
  • UpLift will credential and enroll you with multiple health plans to expand access to insured patients.
  • All care is delivered remotely through UpLift’s telehealth platform.
  • All clinical decisions are made independently by licensed providers in accordance with state telehealth laws and professional standards.

License/Certification: Medical License (Required)

*Compensation is paid on a per-activity basis and is not a guaranteed hourly wage or salary amount. Actual earnings vary based on state-requirements, completed activities, patient care activity, and other operational factors.
