Sample interview questions
I would create a shared dependency register tied to roadmap milestones, assign clear owners and due dates, and review it in a recurring cross-team delivery forum. I would escalate material risks early with options, impact assessments, and recommended decisions so product and engineering leaders can prioritize effectively.
I use metrics such as throughput, cycle time, carryover, blocked-work aging, velocity trends, and work in progress to identify patterns rather than judge individuals. I review the findings with the team during retrospectives, agree on one or two measurable experiments, and track whether those changes improve delivery outcomes over subsequent sprints.
I would configure fit-for-purpose workflows, issue types, fields, permissions, automation rules, and saved JQL filters while keeping the system simple enough for consistent adoption. I would also build dashboards for roadmap progress, sprint health, blockers, defects, dependency status, and work in progress, supported by clear data-hygiene standards.
A technical blocker usually requires an engineering decision, architecture change, environment access, or specialized expertise to resolve. A process blocker is more often caused by unclear ownership, missing requirements, delayed approvals, competing priorities, or ineffective workflow; I address each through the appropriate technical or governance path.
I would partner with security, engineering, and compliance stakeholders to map delivery practices to required controls, document repeatable procedures, and ensure evidence is retained consistently. This can include access-review tracking, change-management records, approval workflows, incident follow-ups, and periodic checks that teams are following the documented process.
