Sample interview questions
I start by validating likely timing, scope, deliverables, probability, and required disciplines. I map those needs against current capacity, committed work, utilization targets, and skill profiles, then create scenarios for reallocation, freelance support, or hiring based on confidence levels and delivery risk.
I would clarify each project’s business impact, immovable deadlines, client commitments, and the specific expertise required. I would present viable tradeoffs to the relevant leaders, such as phased engagement, a qualified alternate, scope sequencing, or freelance augmentation, and document the final decision and downstream impact.
I would track utilization and billability, planned versus actual allocation, forecast accuracy, over- and under-capacity by discipline, freelance spend, margin alignment, staffing lead time, and workload balance. I would pair those quantitative measures with qualitative feedback from creative leads to identify burnout risks or recurring process gaps.
I maintain a structured talent map covering specialties, rates, availability, performance history, and onboarding status. Forecast-driven outreach and regular relationship building keep the bench current, while clear decision criteria ensure freelancers supplement strategic capacity needs rather than replace roles that warrant permanent investment.
I use transparent criteria that include relevant expertise, development goals, availability, workload, and project fit rather than relying only on familiarity or informal requests. I communicate the rationale, review allocation patterns for inequities, and partner with leadership to create stretch opportunities with appropriate support and quality safeguards.
