Sample interview questions
I would first verify the core facts and identify why the development matters to a general business audience. Then I would lead with the clearest takeaway, add only the context needed to explain the impact, and use an accessible analogy or light touch of humor only if it improves understanding.
I would describe how I quickly prioritized reliable primary sources, confirmed the essential facts, wrote a concise initial version, and updated the story as new information emerged. I would also explain how I communicated status and any uncertainty to editors early.
Accuracy and audience trust come first. I would use humor only when it is appropriate to the subject and never at the expense of people affected by a serious event; if there is doubt, I would favor clear, empathetic language and seek editorial input.
I would identify the week’s most consequential moves across equities, rates, currencies, and major commodities, then explain the drivers behind them. I would connect those movements to upcoming economic data, earnings, or policy events so readers understand what to watch next.
I would assess the newsworthiness, verification status, audience relevance, and timing. For a confirmed, high-impact story, I would publish a concise platform-appropriate update quickly, link or cite dependable information where possible, and coordinate with editors on follow-up coverage.

BRIEF BREW HISTORY
Morning Brew Inc. was founded in 2015 by two entrepreneurial college students who noticed their peers were not consuming legacy media resources about business and finance news, but had a high desire to learn about those topics. What started as a small on-campus email has since evolved into a multi-channel media company that operates 20+ unique content franchises. All while maintaining our witty, honest and engaging tone that millions of loyal MBI audience members rely upon daily to better navigate the world.
In 2020 a majority stake in MBI was acquired by Axel Springer SE and in February 2025 that position was increased to full ownership of the business. Axel Springer SE is a family-owned, transatlantic media company headquartered in Berlin and New York that is committed to the values of a free and informed society.
