Sample interview questions
I would explain how I clarified requirements, designed API and data-model changes, implemented backend and frontend components, added automated tests, used code review and CI/CD, monitored the release, and incorporated user or team feedback after launch.
I begin with focused unit tests for business logic and API behavior, then add integration tests for persistence and service boundaries. For key user workflows, I add browser-level tests, keeping the test pyramid balanced so feedback remains fast and reliable.
I would first measure the problem with application telemetry, API timing, and database execution plans. I would then address the most significant bottleneck, such as inefficient queries, missing indexes, unnecessary data loading, caching opportunities, or asynchronous processing, and validate the improvement with repeatable benchmarks.
I make scope, assumptions, risks, and progress visible early, document meaningful decisions, and seek feedback at appropriate milestones. I take responsibility for delivery quality while escalating blockers quickly and coordinating asynchronously so others can contribute effectively.
I assess the problem it solves, security and maintenance implications, operational cost, team familiarity, vendor or community maturity, and integration fit. When appropriate, I create a small proof of concept with clear success criteria before recommending adoption.
