The role, at a glance.
Paddle is seeking a Product Marketing Lead to own the narrative, positioning, go-to-market execution, and commercial impact for its Billing product group. The role translates complex billing, payments, subscription, invoicing, and revenue-operations challenges into clear value propositions for B2B software customers. It requires close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Customer Success, Support, and Revenue Marketing on launches, packaging, enablement, adoption, and competitive differentiation. The successful candidate will use customer and market insight, opportunity sizing, and performance measurement to improve retention, adoption, and growth. This is a senior strategic product-marketing role in a fintech and payments environment.

Sample interview questions
I would start with customer research, product usage data, win-loss insights, and competitive analysis to identify priority segments and their unmet needs. I would translate those findings into a clear positioning framework, differentiated messaging, proof points, and a channel-specific go-to-market plan with adoption and commercial success metrics.
I would align Product, Finance, Sales, Customer Success, and leadership on the commercial objective, target customers, risks, and decision criteria. Then I would create the customer narrative, migration and enablement plan, launch communications, and measurement framework, monitoring conversion, retention, support volume, and qualitative feedback after release.
I begin with the customer problem and desired business outcome rather than feature language. For example, I would connect billing automation or flexible subscription workflows to faster launches, reduced operational risk, stronger retention, improved revenue visibility, or lower internal workload, supported by customer evidence.
I would use a balanced set of leading and lagging measures: target-account reach, sales and partner readiness, feature activation, time to value, adoption depth, pipeline influence, conversion, retention, support trends, and qualitative customer feedback. The final scorecard should connect launch execution to the original customer and commercial hypothesis.
I use AI to accelerate research synthesis, organize competitive signals, summarize customer feedback, draft structured first versions of messaging, and automate repetitive analysis. I apply human judgment and source verification before decisions or external communications, especially for market claims and customer-facing materials.
About this role.
What do we do?
Paddle offers digital product companies a completely different approach to their payment infrastructure. Instead of assembling and maintaining a complex stack of payments-related apps and services, we’re a Merchant of Record for our customers. That means we take away 100% of the pain of payment fragmentation. It’s faster, safer, cheaper, and, above all, way better.
We’re backed by investors including KKR, FTV Capital, Kindred, Notion, and 83North and serve over 10,000 software sellers in 245 territories globally.
The Role
This role reports to the VP of Product Marketing and owns product marketing for the Billing product group. You will work across Product, Growth, Revenue Marketing, Sales, Finance, Solutions, Customer Success, Support, and Brand to turn customer insight into a clear story, a strong go-to-market plan, and measurable market impact.
Monetisation becomes harder as software businesses grow. Pricing models, subscriptions, payments, invoicing, and revenue operations can become a patchwork that slows launches, creates risk, and pulls teams away from their customers.
You will turn a complex commercial problem into a clear story for the people who buy, build, operate, and grow software businesses. You will own the product-area narrative and execution, while partnering with cross-functional teams on broader company positioning, category strategy, and major commercial decisions.
What you’ll do
Build customer and market insight through research, customer conversations, usage signals, competitive intelligence, and commercial feedback.
Define positioning, messaging, segmentation, proof points, and the product story for your product group.
Lead high-impact launches, commercial initiatives, and change programs from early strategy through readiness, channel activation, adoption, advocacy, and learning.
Build focused go-to-market plans across the channels that matter, with clear audiences, owners, trade-offs, and measures.
Partner with Product, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Solutions, Customer Success, and Support early enough to influence priorities, packaging, enablement, and customer outcomes.
Equip Revenue Marketing, Sales, Solutions, Customer Success, Support, and partners with clear stories, talk tracks, proof, and practical guidance.
Bring competitive and market insight into product, packaging, pricing, and go-to-market decisions, and identify opportunities to sharpen differentiation.
Set objectives and measures for customer adoption, retention, and commercial impact. Make practical recommendations using data and opportunity sizing to highlight the business and customer opportunity.
Use AI to improve research, synthesis, analysis, competitive intelligence, workflow automation, and product marketing quality, with strong judgement and verification.
We’d love to hear from you if you are
A track record of bringing complex B2B, fintech, payments, billing, infrastructure, or platform products to market.
Experience leading high-impact launches, migrations, packaging changes, or commercial initiative with measurable results.
Strong customer discovery, segmentation, positioning, storytelling, and commercial judgement.
The ability to connect product detail to outcomes such as growth, retention, efficiency, flexibility, and confidence.
Comfort working with technical, product, finance, operations, sales, solutions, support, and executive audiences.
Range across launches, enablement, adoption, change management, measurement, competitive insight, and customer advocacy.
Examples of using AI, agents, or automation to improve speed, quality, or insight.
What good looks like
Within your first year, the Billing team has a sharper product story, a repeatable approach to launches and commercial change, stronger enablement, and a clear view of what is driving customer adoption and business impact. Product and go-to-market partners trust you to bring clarity, make smart trade-offs, and turn insight into action.
