Sample interview questions
How would you convert a new PCAOB or AICPA requirement into a platform-ready audit workflow?

I would first identify the requirement's objective, applicability, required evidence, decision points, and documentation expectations. I would then map these elements into structured steps, inputs, validations, reviewer controls, and exception paths, validating the design with subject-matter experts and representative engagement scenarios.

Describe how you would ensure AI-generated methodology guidance remains accurate and explainable.

I would ground the workflow in approved source methodology, define clear prompts and guardrails, and require traceability from outputs back to the relevant standard or firm guidance. I would also establish testing cases, human-review checkpoints, version controls, and a feedback process to identify and remediate inaccurate or ambiguous outputs.

How have you managed methodology updates across multiple audit teams or templates?

I use a controlled change-management process with documented ownership, impact assessment, versioning, technical and methodology review, approval records, release communication, and post-release monitoring. This approach helps ensure that updated standards are consistently reflected without disrupting active engagements.

What quality-management risks are most important when implementing firm-specific audit methodology in software?

Key risks include incomplete translation of requirements, inappropriate use outside the intended engagement context, weak review controls, stale content, and insufficient documentation of exceptions. I would mitigate these through role-based approvals, applicability logic, evidence requirements, release governance, and regular monitoring of user feedback and regulatory developments.

How would you work effectively with engineers who do not have an audit background?

I would explain audit concepts through clear objectives, examples, decision trees, and acceptance criteria rather than assuming prior domain knowledge. I would provide representative scenarios and edge cases, clarify what must be preserved for compliance, and maintain an iterative feedback loop to confirm that the implemented behavior matches the intended methodology.
