Sample interview questions
I use a documented monthly reconciliation process that compares HRIS eligibility and enrolment records with carrier files and payroll deductions. I investigate variances before the payroll cutoff, retain an audit trail, and use recurring error patterns to improve the process.
I would first confirm the employee’s eligibility, required documentation, applicable policy, and deadlines. I would coordinate carefully with the employee, insurer, payroll, and HR partners, provide clear status updates, protect confidential information, and track the case through resolution.
I would reconcile the invoice against current eligibility, enrolment, and termination data, then isolate additions, removals, and rate changes. I would validate discrepancies with the vendor, seek credits or corrections where needed, and document the resolution before approving payment.
I prioritize requests by urgency, employee impact, and deadlines, while using a case tracker to maintain ownership and visibility. For repeat topics, I create clear knowledge resources and SOPs so employees receive consistent answers and the team can reduce avoidable tickets.
I use automation and AI-assisted workflows to organize recurring data checks, identify anomalies, draft process documentation, and improve self-service guidance. I validate outputs against policy and source records, especially for sensitive benefits and payroll decisions.

As a Benefits Operations Specialist, you will be a subject matter expert in the day-to-day execution and administration of Zscaler’s EMEA benefit programs. You will serve as the backbone of the benefits function, ensuring that the employee life-cycle from onboarding to off-boarding is handled with precision, empathy, and compliance, focusing on high-touch administration of complex leave cases and the seamless delivery of our benefits concierge service.

Lead the end-to-end administration for new hire enrollments, leaver processing, and off-cycle qualifying life events while owning the monthly benefits-to-payroll data bridge
Manage the submission and tracking of insurance claims for disability and sick leave, conducting quarterly headcount audits to ensure 100% data integrity with all benefit providers
Serve as the senior point of escalation for complex employee inquiries, resolving issues within defined SLAs and educating staff on the most beneficial support options

Who You Are (Success Profile)

You act like an owner. Your passion for the mission fuels your bias for action. You operate with integrity because you genuinely care about the outcome. True ownership involves leveraging dynamic range: the ability to navigate seamlessly between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
You are a problem-solver. You seek out challenges because you are energized by finding solutions, knowing that solving the hard problems delivers the biggest impact.
You are a high-trust collaborator. You are ambitious for the team, not just yourself. You embrace our challenge culture by giving and receiving ongoing feedback, knowing that candor delivered with clarity and respect is the truest form of teamwork and the fastest way to earn trust.
You are a learner. You have a true growth mindset and are obsessed with your own development, actively seeking feedback to become a better partner and a stronger teammate. You love what you do and you do it with purpose.
