Sample interview questions
I first establish the alert rationale, customer profile, expected activity, and relevant transaction history. I then analyze counterparties, payment flows, timing, amounts, and supporting information, document the evidence objectively, and determine whether to clear, restrict, escalate, or seek additional information.
I would confirm the scope and deadline, gather relevant account records and prior review history, and perform a focused analysis of the activity in question. My response would be factual, concise, well-supported by evidence, and would clearly identify any residual concerns or recommended next steps.
I would assess whether wire volume, destinations, counterparties, and transaction purposes align with the customer’s stated business model. Red flags can include rapid movement of funds, unexplained international transfers, high-risk jurisdictions, inconsistent invoice support, unusual third-party payments, or activity that lacks an apparent economic purpose.
I apply risk-based controls and request only information necessary to resolve the risk question. I communicate clearly and respectfully, explain next steps where appropriate, and move cases efficiently while ensuring that any restriction or closure decision is supported by documented evidence.
I would analyze alert outcomes by customer segment, transaction type, and disposition reason to identify the source of noise. I would propose calibrated thresholds or contextual conditions, test the change against historical cases, measure its effect on true-positive capture and alert volume, and document the rationale before implementation.
