Sample interview questions
I would establish clear renewal stages and exit criteria, inspect deal health weekly, validate close dates and risk assumptions, and compare forecast calls with actual outcomes. I would use win-loss patterns and leading indicators such as engagement, product adoption, and procurement status to improve coaching and forecast discipline.
I first clarify the customer’s business objectives, usage signals, stakeholders, commercial constraints, and root cause of risk. I then build a mutual action plan with the account team and Customer Success, set executive checkpoints where appropriate, and present a value-based path that may include remediation, the right commercial structure, or an adoption plan.
I use regular one-to-ones, call or deal reviews, and measurable development plans tailored to each person’s skills. Coaching focuses on discovery, risk qualification, negotiation, account strategy, and forecast ownership, while recognizing strong behaviors and translating successful practices into team playbooks.
I would align on account ownership, qualification criteria, timelines, and handoffs early in the renewal cycle. Shared account reviews would identify adoption gaps and growth signals, allowing the team to position expansion around demonstrated customer value rather than treating it as a last-minute commercial add-on.
I make priorities, decisions, metrics, and ownership visible through clear written documentation and consistent operating cadences. I balance asynchronous updates with purposeful live discussions for complex decisions, create inclusive channels for feedback, and use outcomes rather than presence as the basis for accountability.
