Sample interview questions
Describe how you would build a territory and account plan for a strategic Swedish enterprise prospect.

I would first map the customer's business strategy, software-delivery maturity, stakeholder landscape, current tooling, risks, and buying process. I would identify priority use cases where GitLab can improve developer productivity, security, compliance, or operational efficiency, then build a mutual action plan with measurable outcomes, executive sponsorship, and a clear path to adoption and expansion.

How do you position DevSecOps value to a C-level executive who is not focused on development tooling?

I translate product capabilities into executive outcomes: faster and more predictable delivery, reduced security and compliance exposure, lower toolchain complexity, and improved engineering efficiency. I validate the customer's current costs and risks, quantify the impact where possible, and align the proposal to their strategic initiatives rather than leading with technical features.

Tell us about a time you coordinated internal teams to close and successfully launch a complex enterprise deal.

In a complex deal, I establish shared objectives, roles, milestones, and an executive communication cadence early. I bring in solution engineering to validate the architecture, customer success and services to shape the rollout plan, and leadership or partners when they can remove obstacles; this ensures the customer sees one coordinated team from evaluation through adoption.

How would you respond if an existing customer is underutilizing GitLab and is hesitant to discuss expansion?

I would begin with a value-focused review of their original objectives, current usage, adoption blockers, and outcomes achieved. Rather than pushing expansion immediately, I would coordinate the right technical and customer-success resources to address gaps, document realized value, and jointly identify the next high-priority workflow where broader adoption can deliver a clear result.

What is your approach to handling a competitive enterprise sales process?

I avoid competing solely on feature checklists and instead build differentiation around the customer's strategic requirements, decision criteria, and desired business outcomes. I engage champions and executives early, validate technical fit with the right experts, surface implementation and consolidation considerations, and maintain an evidence-based mutual plan that reduces decision risk.
