Sample interview questions
I would map the data lifecycle, identify the purpose and legal basis for each processing activity, and assess whether biometric or other sensitive-data laws apply. I would partner with Product, Engineering, and Security to minimize collection, set retention and access controls, document decisions through a DPIA, and build clear user notices and consent flows where required.
I assess the parties' roles, processing instructions, categories of data and data subjects, security obligations, subprocessors, audit rights, incident notification, international-transfer mechanisms, deletion and return requirements, and liability alignment with the main agreement. I aim to protect the company while proposing commercially workable terms.
I maintain a structured regulatory-monitoring process, prioritize developments based on product and market exposure, and convert material changes into concise, actionable guidance. For higher-risk changes, I create implementation plans with accountable owners, deadlines, and documented risk decisions.
I would coordinate immediately with Security, Engineering, and relevant business owners to contain the issue, preserve evidence, and determine the affected systems, data, jurisdictions, and individuals. I would assess notification obligations, guide communications and remediation, document the investigation, and recommend control improvements after resolution.
I would first clarify the data sources, contractual permissions, user expectations, purpose limitation, retention, and applicable privacy laws. I would then recommend an approach that may include de-identification, opt-in or opt-out controls, contract updates, governance review, and technical safeguards, while clearly explaining residual risk and alternatives to the team.
