Sample interview questions
I first identify claim structure, defined terms, and recurring technical concepts. I maintain a consistent terminology base, verify specialised biology terms against reliable sources, and perform a final bilingual review focused on legal scope, omissions, and ambiguity.
I compare the target text with the source for completeness, terminology consistency, syntax affecting claim scope, and formatting. I document material issues clearly, distinguish preference edits from errors, and confirm that corrections follow the client glossary and style guide.
I review the surrounding disclosure and claim context, consult approved references and terminology resources, and check for prior client or jurisdiction-specific usage. If uncertainty remains, I raise a concise query with options and contextual justification rather than making an unsupported assumption.
I use translation memories, termbases, QA checks, and project instructions to ensure consistency and efficiency. Before delivery, I review automated QA findings, resolve tag or number issues, and conduct a targeted linguistic pass on new and high-risk segments.
I would plan work by deadline and complexity, process terminology early, and reserve time for self-review and QA. I would communicate promptly about capacity or source issues and maintain steady progress so that quality checks are not compressed at the end.
