Sample interview questions
I would start with discovery across business, data, and IT stakeholders to identify priority outcomes such as predictive maintenance, supply-chain optimization, quality analytics, or AI-enabled operations. I would map the current data estate, architectural constraints, decision-makers, and success metrics, then create a phased adoption roadmap linking Databricks capabilities to measurable value. I would align the plan with the Account Executive and establish executive sponsorship and technical champions early.
I would define a narrow, valuable use case with agreed success criteria, data availability, security requirements, and a clear timeline. The proof of concept would demonstrate ingestion, transformation, governance, model development or AI workflows, and measurable outcomes using representative customer data. At the end, I would present results, architecture recommendations, operating considerations, and a production adoption plan.
For executives, I focus on business outcomes, risk reduction, investment rationale, and a concise roadmap. For engineers, I provide architectural detail, integration patterns, governance controls, performance trade-offs, and implementation steps. I ensure both audiences remain aligned by using shared success metrics and translating technical decisions into their operational and financial impact.
I establish a shared account objective, explicit roles, decision paths, and a regular operating cadence with the Account Executive, specialists, partner teams, and customer stakeholders. I keep the team focused through documented account plans, action owners, technical milestones, and proactive risk management. I also create feedback loops so field insight improves the technical strategy as customer priorities evolve.
I would first understand the source of concern, whether it is migration risk, security, cost, skills, or disruption to existing processes. I would acknowledge valid constraints and use targeted demonstrations, reference architectures, and a low-risk proof of concept to show value in the customer's environment. Rather than advocating change broadly, I would propose an incremental path that preserves critical operations while proving measurable improvements.
