Sample interview questions
How would you use network telemetry to reduce mean time to respond for a SOC team?

I would first map the team’s incident workflow and identify delays in triage, enrichment, or escalation. I would then create detections, dashboards, automated enrichment, and integrations that surface relevant packet-level context and prioritize high-confidence threats.

Describe your approach to designing a cloud network monitoring solution across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

I begin by documenting network topology, traffic paths, security controls, and data-collection requirements in each cloud. I then design consistent visibility, telemetry ingestion, alerting, and access controls while accounting for each provider’s native networking and logging capabilities.

What packet-analysis indicators would you investigate when assessing a potential lateral-movement event?

I would examine unusual east-west connections, new SMB or remote-management activity, anomalous DNS behavior, authentication patterns, protocol misuse, and deviations from normal communication baselines. I would correlate these indicators with endpoint, identity, and threat-intelligence data before escalating.

How have you used Python or JavaScript to extend a security platform?

I have used scripting to query APIs, normalize and enrich security data, automate repetitive investigations, and generate actionable alerts or reports. I prioritize error handling, authentication security, maintainability, and clear documentation so customer teams can operate the automation reliably.

How do you communicate complex technical findings to both security engineers and business stakeholders?

I tailor the level of detail to the audience. For engineers, I provide evidence, architecture details, and remediation steps; for stakeholders, I focus on risk, business impact, priorities, and measurable outcomes supported by concise visualizations.
