Sample interview questions
I would first clarify the prospect's business objective, current telemetry architecture, key data sources, operational pain points, and security or compliance constraints. I would then confirm success criteria, stakeholders, timeline, and the technical requirements that should be validated in a demonstration or proof of concept.
For IT operations, I would focus on reliable data routing, lower operational friction, visibility, and control over data pipelines. For security, I would emphasize retaining relevant security telemetry, improving data quality and access, and supporting investigations without unnecessary data movement or lock-in.
I would define measurable success criteria with the customer before starting, identify the priority sources and destinations, and create a scoped implementation plan. During the POC, I would validate ingestion, routing, transformation, performance, and operational usability, then document results and recommended next steps for the buying team.
I would acknowledge the question clearly, avoid guessing, and explain what I can validate during or after the session. I would capture the context, consult the appropriate internal specialist or documentation, and follow up promptly with an accurate answer and any relevant technical evidence.
I use clear written communication, documented action items, shared technical plans, and proactive scheduling to reduce ambiguity. I also set expectations about response times and meeting availability while maintaining flexibility for high-impact customer conversations outside standard hours when necessary.
