Sample interview questions
I would first map the data flows, ownership, permitted uses, retention, security controls, and any restrictions on model training. I would then negotiate clear provisions on confidentiality, IP ownership, indemnities, audit rights, output use, subcontractors, and compliance with applicable privacy and AI requirements.
I would engage early with product and engineering to understand the feature, data inputs, users, and jurisdictions. I would identify material legal risks, prioritize them by likelihood and impact, and propose practical controls or phased-launch conditions that preserve momentum while setting clear risk boundaries.
I establish the business objective, litigation strategy, budget expectations, decision rights, and reporting cadence at the outset. I actively review key pleadings, evidence, settlement options, and milestones, while translating developments into concise recommendations for executive stakeholders.
I focus on the business decision required, explain the risk in plain language, and provide a small number of actionable options with trade-offs. For technical matters, I validate my understanding with subject-matter experts and use concrete examples rather than relying on legal terminology.
I would analyze agreement volume, negotiation patterns, approval bottlenecks, and recurring deviations from standard terms. Based on that analysis, I would create playbooks, templates, clause guidance, intake rules, approval thresholds, and carefully governed automation to improve consistency without bypassing legal review for material risk.
