Sample interview questions
I interpret between English and my native language, with my strongest experience in consecutive interpretation. I can also discuss my experience with simultaneous or liaison assignments and provide examples of relevant settings.
I review available agendas, glossaries, background materials, and speaker information in advance. I identify technical terminology, clarify expectations with the project contact, and prepare a concise terminology list for the engagement.
I actively listen for meaning, structure, and key terminology rather than translating word by word. I use preparation, note-taking where appropriate, and brief clarification requests when needed to preserve accuracy.
I follow professional codes of ethics, keep client information private, and use secure practices for documents and remote platforms. I only share information with authorized parties when required for the assignment.
During a session with unfamiliar terminology, I used context, asked for clarification at an appropriate pause, and documented the confirmed term for consistent use afterward. This kept communication clear while minimizing disruption.
