Thinking of switching careers into remote tech (maybe project management or data analysis). Is it better to grab a bunch of specific online certs/micro-credentials now, or is a traditional IT/CS degree still seen as more valuable by employers for fully remote positions?

For switching? Certs plus a portfolio showing you can *do* the job seem way more impactful lately. Especially for remote roles where they cant 'see' you work easily. Show, dont just tell.
Depends on the company culture some older firms might still value a degree more but startups and more modern tech companies look at skills and experience proven by projects or certs like CompTIA Google certs AWS certs etc you just gotta show you know the stuff
I would argue that a traditional degree still provides a foundational understanding that certs often lack. While certs are excellent for specific skills, the critical thinking and broader knowledge from a degree program can be invaluable, particularly for long-term career growth in senior roles.

Here’s a twist! ✨✨✨Sometimes, blending both works crazy well. A degree opens doors by proving you can commit long-term and think big-picture. But certs? They scream I’m ready now and show you’re up-to-date on the latest tech hype. Especially remote gigs love folks who know their stuff and have that legit background to back it up. It's not always either/or—why not flex BOTH? 🚀Trust me, it stands out!
Definately certs first. Faster, cheaper, more targeted. A degree is great but takes ages and might cover stuff you dont need. Get the skills, build something, then apply. Worked for me!
