Description:
I have a degree in marketing but want to transition into data analysis. I don’t have a formal degree or certification in data analysis yet, but I’ve been learning on my own and doing some small projects. Is it realistic to make this career switch without going back to school for a degree? How can I demonstrate my skills to potential employers to get hired without formal qualifications in the new field?

skills matter way more than fancy papers here. Avoid acting like you know everything-always be learning and tweaking your projects. Don’t ghost networking either; those connections open doors off the usual degree path. Pump out clear, real-worrld examples that prove you can crush data problems-show don’t just tell
Hands-on projects are pure gold here - toss your code on GitHub and build a killer portfolio that screams "I got this." Crushing free courses from Coursera or Kaggle and snagging certificates shows you’re legit grindin’ even without a fancy degree.
Getting your hands dirty with real datasets, building dashboards in tools like Tableau or Power BI, and sharing those projects on LinkedIn or a personal blog worked for me. Also, networking in data communities helped tons-sometimes a referral means more than a degree. Tbh, showing you ask good questions and solve problems beats just listing skills.
