Event Marketing B2B Marketing Creative Direction Project Management Audience Segmentation Campaign Strategy Vendor Management Brand Experience Remote Collaboration Stakeholder Management

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Events Marketing Manager position at Ahrefs. With over 5 years of experience in B2B field marketing and event strategy, I have a proven track record of driving audience engagement and brand impact through creative campaigns and seamless execution. At my previous role, I led the marketing strategy for a regional conference series, managing everything from audience segmentation and multi-channel campaigns to booth design and vendor relationships.

I am particularly drawn to Ahrefs' culture of ownership and low-ego collaboration. I thrive in fast-paced, remote environments and am comfortable making autonomous decisions while coordinating with global teams. My experience in managing speaker relationships and creative direction aligns perfectly with the responsibilities of this role.

I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to Ahrefs' European events program and Evolve conference. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to discussing how my skills can support your team.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe a time when you had to manage multiple event projects simultaneously? How did you prioritize and ensure quality?
In my previous role, I managed three regional events concurrently. I used a project management tool to track timelines and deliverables, prioritized tasks based on impact and deadlines, and held weekly check-ins with vendors and internal teams. I delegated operational tasks to a coordinator while focusing on creative strategy, ensuring all events met brand standards and were delivered on time.
How would you approach developing the creative direction for a global conference like Ahrefs Evolve?
I would start by understanding the conference goals, target audience, and brand guidelines. Then I would brainstorm themes and visual concepts with the design team, create mood boards, and present options to stakeholders. After selecting a direction, I would develop a detailed creative brief for booth design, signage, and swag, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints. I would also gather feedback from past events and attendee surveys to refine the approach.
Tell me about a time you managed a speaker relationship from booking to post-event. How did you ensure a positive experience?
I was the main point of contact for a keynote speaker at a tech conference. From the moment they were booked, I sent a welcome package with event details and a personalized schedule. I held pre-event briefings to align on content and logistics, and during the event, I ensured they had a dedicated escort. After the event, I followed up with a thank-you note and a feedback survey. The speaker appreciated the seamless experience and agreed to speak again the following year.
How do you measure the success of an event marketing campaign?
I track metrics such as registration numbers, attendance rate, engagement during the event (e.g., booth visits, session attendance), post-event survey scores, and pipeline generated from leads. I also analyze brand sentiment on social media and compare ROI against budget. For Ahrefs, I would align success metrics with the company's goals, such as brand awareness, lead generation, and customer retention.
Describe a situation where you had to work autonomously on a project with minimal supervision. How did you stay on track?
In my remote role, I was responsible for planning a regional event with little oversight. I created a detailed project plan with milestones and deadlines, shared it with my manager for alignment, and then executed independently. I used daily checklists and weekly progress reports to keep myself accountable. When I encountered a budget issue, I researched alternatives and presented a solution to my manager, demonstrating ownership and problem-solving.

About Ahrefs

Ahrefs is a SaaS marketing platform that helps businesses become discoverable and unmissable online. We offer a suite of tools for SEO, content marketing, and website performance — backed by 15 years of web crawling data and increasingly powered by AI to deliver strategic insights at scale. We’re bootstrapped, profitable, multinational, and fully remote. Our culture is fast-moving, low-ego, and built on smart decisions and ownership.

The Role

You’ll lead the marketing strategy and creative execution for Ahrefs’ European events program, and play a central creative role in Ahrefs Evolve — our global annual conference series. This isn’t a pure logistics role: you’re the person who helps shape how Ahrefs shows up at events visually and strategically, from audience campaigns to booth design to swag.

You’ll report to the Global Head of Events (US-based) and work closely alongside our Global Partnerships & Revenue Manager (SG-based) on Evolve sponsorship activations and European & US sponsored events. For fulfillment and operational execution, you’ll partner closely with our Singapore-based Event Operations Manager. You own the creative brief and speaker relationships; they own making it happen on the ground.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead event marketing strategy and execution — audience targeting, multi-channel campaigns (email, social, partnerships, content), registration drives, and post-event follow-up.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for Ahrefs Evolve confirmed speakers — from the moment a booking is made by the influencer team through to post-event follow-up. Speakers should never need to wonder who to contact: you own the relationship, the briefing, and the experience. You’ll relay logistics requirements to the Event Operations Manager so speakers deal with one person throughout.
  • Own creative direction for Evolve, our global annual conference — including fabrication, booth design, and overall brand experience, briefing and working closely with designers across Europe and Asia.
  • Manage sponsorship booth design and creative for European field events and regional activations.
  • Lead swag creative direction: concept, design standards, and brand alignment — coordinating with the Event Operations Manager, who owns vendor management and fulfillment.
  • Collaborate with the Global Head of Events and Global Partnerships & Revenue Manager on Evolve strategy and sponsorship activation planning.
  • Manage timelines and creative vendor relationships across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional communities, partners, and event venues across Europe.
  • Provide cross-regional creative support for select events in Singapore and the US, ensuring consistency across all markets.
  • Track and report on event performance — attendance, engagement, brand impact, and ROI.

You’ll Thrive Here If

  • You’ve run B2B field marketing programs or event portfolios with both large-scale and grassroots activations.
  • You’re a strong event marketer with solid creative instincts — you understand audience segmentation, campaign mechanics, and how to build an experience that drives registration and engagement.
  • You’ve managed fabrication, booth design, or brand experience at events — you know how to brief designers, hold vendors to a standard, and translate a brand into a physical space.
  • You understand where your ownership ends and your operational partner’s begins — you hand off a complete, approved brief and trust execution to follow.
  • You’re highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously without dropping quality.
  • You’re comfortable working autonomously in a remote, distributed team — you make decisions confidently within your remit and escalate when budget, scope, or brand is affected.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • You’re based in the UK or Europe and comfortable with occasional travel across the region, and to the US & Singapore.

Bonus

  • Experience with event technology platforms (registration, AV, attendee engagement tools)
  • Background in SaaS, tech, or digital marketing industries
  • Familiarity with SEO, content marketing, or developer/marketer communities
  • Experience supporting or running events across multiple regions

What We Offer

  • Annual company retreat to connect with the global team
  • Conference budget to stay sharp and connected in your field
  • Generous paid time off to recharge
  • Connect Program, visit Ahrefs offices and meet teammates in person
  • Remote equipment budget to set up your ideal workspace
