Key Skills

US Military Infantry Combat Experience World War II Script Review Authenticity Proofreading Military Culture Veteran Historical Accuracy

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am a US military veteran with infantry and combat experience, including deployments in support of the Global War on Terror. My firsthand knowledge of military culture, ethos, and squad dynamics aligns perfectly with your need for authenticity in a World War II script. I have a strong interest in military history and would welcome the opportunity to apply my experience to evaluate the script's accuracy.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to discussing how my background can contribute to your project.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe your military experience, particularly any combat deployments and infantry roles?
I served as an infantry squad leader in the US Army with two deployments to Afghanistan. I have firsthand experience with tactical operations, leadership dynamics, and the day-to-day interactions within a squad.
How would you assess the authenticity of a script's portrayal of military hierarchy and communication?
I would look for realistic use of rank structure, proper addressing of superiors, and accurate depiction of command relationships. I'd also check for common military jargon and the emotional responses typical of combat situations.
What specific elements of US military culture do you think are often misrepresented in media?
Often, the bond between soldiers is oversimplified or dramatized. Real military culture emphasizes discipline, dark humor, and a unique brotherhood that can be hard to capture without firsthand experience.
Can you give an example of a historical inaccuracy you've noticed in a WWII film or script?
In many films, soldiers are depicted as constantly heroic and fearless. In reality, fear and confusion are common, and decisions are often made under extreme stress with imperfect information.
How would you provide constructive feedback to a writer without military background?
I would focus on specific scenes, explaining why certain actions or dialogue feel inauthentic and suggesting alternatives that maintain the story's integrity while increasing realism.

For one of our clients we are looking for a subject matter specialist with broad experience in the US Military, preferably infantry and combat-experienced with a strong understanding and experience of US military culture.

This specialist will need to check an English script about combat in the World War II for authenticity for one of our clients.

The client is specifically looking for a (modern) U.S. military veteran, or at least someone with combat experience in (recent) conflicts (such as the GWOT) and preferable knowledge of World War II history.

This military specialist will need to read the script and be able to give feedback on the authenticity of the story.

The specialist will be evaluating whether the fiction is well-enough grounded into US military ethos and hierarchical relationships, especially among the ranks of an infantry squad.

Would you be interested, and have the correct experience, please upload CV and rate per hour on the link, thank you!

Requirements

-US Military experience.

-Preferable experience in infantry.

-World War II specialist if possible.

-Someone with first-hand knowledge of military dynamics, not just researchers.

-Proofread experience if possible
