Legal AI Customer Success Strategic Advisory Change Management Legal Technology Client Relationship Management SaaS AI Adoption Revenue Retention Legal Innovation

Dear Hiring Team,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Legal Innovation Partner position at NetDocuments. With over 10 years of experience in legal technology and strategic client advisory, I have a proven track record of guiding law firms through successful AI adoption and transformation. My approach combines deep technical knowledge with a focus on measurable business outcomes and client satisfaction. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to NetDocuments' mission and help clients achieve their innovation goals. Thank you for considering my application.

Describe your experience with implementing AI solutions in a legal environment. What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
In my previous role at a legal tech company, I led the rollout of an AI-powered document review tool for a large law firm. Key challenges included data privacy concerns and user adoption resistance. I addressed these by conducting thorough risk assessments, ensuring compliance with legal standards, and designing a comprehensive change management program that included hands-on training and executive buy-in.
How do you approach building trust with senior stakeholders, such as CIOs or Managing Partners, when introducing new technology?
I focus on understanding their strategic priorities and pain points first. By aligning the technology's benefits with their business goals, I demonstrate clear ROI. I also provide transparent communication about risks and timelines, and I leverage data from pilot programs to build confidence. Regular check-ins and executive summaries help maintain trust throughout the engagement.
Can you provide an example of how you turned an at-risk client relationship into a long-term partnership?
At my previous company, a key client was dissatisfied with our support and considering switching vendors. I scheduled an emergency onsite visit to listen to their concerns, which included slow response times and unmet feature requests. I created a joint action plan with our product and support teams, prioritized their requests, and assigned a dedicated support lead. Within three months, their satisfaction scores improved, and they renewed their contract with an expanded scope.
How do you stay current with developments in legal AI and ensure your clients benefit from the latest innovations?
I subscribe to industry newsletters, attend conferences like ILTACON, and participate in online communities focused on legal tech. I also set up quarterly briefings with our product team to understand upcoming features. For clients, I share relevant insights and organize workshops to explore new use cases. This proactive approach helps them stay ahead and deepens our partnership.
Describe a time when you had to influence a client's strategy regarding technology adoption. What approach did you take?
A client was hesitant to adopt cloud-based document management due to security concerns. I organized a meeting between their IT security team and our security architects to address specific questions. I also shared case studies from similar firms who successfully migrated. By providing technical reassurance and demonstrating competitive advantages, I helped them develop a phased migration plan that they eventually implemented successfully.

About the position

NetDocuments is seeking a Legal Innovation Partner to be a senior individual contributor embedded in the firm relationships that matter most to NetDocuments. You are not a typical customer success manager — you are an expert in legal AI strategy and transformation who serves as the primary strategic advisor to a portfolio of law firm and legal department clients. You are responsible for their success with NetDocuments, and you own the renewal and expansion of that book of business.

You will guide clients through every stage of their AI adoption journey — from understanding their current workflow and identifying high-impact use cases, through implementation, change management, and measurement of outcomes. Your clients trust you not just as a vendor contact, but as a thought partner. When they have a question about what legal AI means for their firm, you are who they call.

What You’ll Do

  • Own a portfolio of strategic law firm and legal department client relationships, serving as the primary advisor and point of accountability for their NetDocuments experience and AI transformation journey
  • Drive renewal and expansion within your assigned book of business — maintaining high net revenue retention rates and identifying meaningful upsell and cross-sell opportunities aligned to client needs
  • Develop and execute tailored AI adoption roadmaps for each client, working with firm leadership and legal technology teams to identify the highest-value use cases and build measurable adoption plans
  • Lead executive-level business reviews with firm management committees, CIOs, and Chief Innovation Officers — communicating ROI, adoption performance, and strategic direction clearly and confidently
  • Identify and escalate at-risk accounts proactively, partnering with Sales and Forward Deployed Engineers to develop and execute remediation plans
  • Collaborate with the Product and Engineering teams to channel client feedback into the product roadmap, advocating for the features and integrations that will drive adoption and stickiness in your portfolio
  • Contribute to the development of the LIP playbook — sharing what works with the broader Legal Innovation Partner team and helping establish best practices for AI transformation engagement
  • Represent NetDocuments at legal technology conferences, client advisory boards, and industry events
  • Other duties as assigned

What You’ll Need to be Successful

  • 8+ years of experience in legal technology, legal operations, enterprise customer success, or management consulting focused on the legal sector
  • Fluent in using AI for legal workflows and legal use
  • Direct experience owning client relationships and renewal/expansion outcomes in a B2B SaaS or legal technology environment
  • Fluency in law firm operations — you understand how firms are structured, how decisions get made, how technology is evaluated and adopted, and what drives attorney behavior
  • JD or equivalent legal industry experience strongly preferred. Prior law firm practice (associate or counsel level) is a significant advantage in establishing credibility with firm leadership
  • Proven ability to build trusted advisory relationships with senior law firm stakeholders, including partners, COOs, CIOs, and practice group leaders.
  • Comfort navigating complex, multi-stakeholder organizations and moving multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to design and deliver compelling client presentations and ROI narratives
  • Familiarity with legal AI applications, document management systems, and the broader LegalTech ecosystem
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to client sites and industry events
