Key Skills

Project Management Customer Facing Laboratory Projects Vendor Coordination Cross-functional Team PMP Stakeholder Management Budget Management GMP/GxP Microsoft Office

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Customer-Facing Project Manager position. With over 8 years of project management experience, including 5+ years in customer-facing roles, I have a proven track record of delivering complex laboratory projects on time and within budget. My expertise in managing multi-vendor environments and coordinating with third-party partners aligns perfectly with your requirements.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and am PMP certified, with experience in GMP/GxP environments. I have successfully led laboratory relocations and asset management programs for pharmaceutical clients, ensuring minimal downtime and high customer satisfaction. My strong communication skills enable me to lead cross-functional teams and maintain clear stakeholder alignment.

I am local to Raleigh, NC and willing to travel up to 50% as needed. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to your team and drive successful project outcomes for your customers.

Describe a complex laboratory project you managed from start to finish. What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
I managed a multi-site laboratory relocation for a pharmaceutical client. Challenges included coordinating with multiple vendors, ensuring compliance with GMP standards, and minimizing downtime. I developed a detailed project plan with contingency buffers, held daily stand-ups with vendors, and worked closely with the client's quality team to ensure all equipment was validated before operation. The project was completed on time and within budget, with zero quality incidents.
How do you prioritize tasks when managing multiple customer projects simultaneously?
I use a combination of project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project) and prioritization frameworks like the Eisenhower Matrix. I assess each project's urgency, impact on customer operations, and dependencies. I communicate regularly with stakeholders to adjust priorities as needed and ensure critical path items are addressed first. For example, during a peak period, I reprioritized a vendor onboarding task to avoid delaying a critical lab move.
Can you give an example of a time you had to manage a difficult stakeholder or customer?
A customer was unhappy with a delay caused by a third-party vendor. I scheduled a meeting to listen to their concerns, acknowledged the issue, and presented a revised timeline with mitigation steps. I also set up weekly check-ins to provide updates. By being transparent and proactive, I rebuilt trust and the customer later praised our communication.
How do you ensure effective communication across cross-functional teams and with external partners?
I establish clear communication channels from the start, using tools like SharePoint for documentation and Teams for daily updates. I tailor communication styles to the audience—technical details for engineers, high-level summaries for executives. I also schedule regular alignment meetings and send concise status reports to ensure everyone is informed and accountable.
Describe your experience managing project budgets. How do you handle budget overruns?
I have managed budgets up to $2M for laboratory projects. I track expenses against the budget using Excel and SAP, and I review financials weekly. If a budget overrun is anticipated, I first identify the root cause, then discuss options with the team (e.g., reallocating funds, negotiating with vendors). I communicate any changes to the customer and get approval before proceeding.
