Key Skills

Full-Stack Development React Next.js Python C# Node.js PostgreSQL REST APIs LLM Integration Azure

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am excited to apply for the Full-Stack Engineer contract position at Launchpad Technologies. With over 6 years of experience in full-stack development, including Python, C#, Node.js, and React/Next.js, I have a strong track record of transforming complex requirements into production-ready web applications. I am particularly drawn to this role because it involves building tools that directly impact operations, and I thrive in fast-paced, hands-on environments where I can own the full stack.

In my previous roles, I have migrated legacy spreadsheet-based systems to modern web platforms, integrated REST and LLM APIs, and deployed applications on Azure. I am comfortable working directly with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver solutions that are both robust and user-friendly. I am eager to bring my technical skills and ownership mindset to this project and contribute to building reliable tools for the operations team.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can add value to your client's project.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Describe a time you migrated a complex spreadsheet-based system to a web application. What challenges did you face and how did you overcome them?
In my previous role, I migrated a manual inventory management system from Excel to a React/Node.js web app. The main challenge was reverse-engineering the business logic embedded in VBA macros. I worked closely with the operations team to document rules and iteratively tested the new system against the old outputs to ensure accuracy.
How would you design a real-time train tracking dashboard that displays live data from multiple sources?
I would use WebSockets or SSE to stream data from the backend to the frontend. The backend would poll or receive webhooks from train tracking APIs, process data, and push updates. On the frontend, I'd use React with a state management library like Zustand to handle real-time updates efficiently, and leverage libraries like Leaflet for map visualization.
Explain how you would integrate an LLM API to automate narrative outputs from structured data. Provide an example.
I would use the LLM API (e.g., Claude) with a prompt that includes structured data (like shift metrics) and instruct it to generate a plain-English summary. For example, for a shift equity monitoring tool, I'd send a JSON with overtime hours and ask the LLM to produce a brief exception report highlighting any anomalies. I'd handle rate limiting and prompt engineering to ensure consistent output.
You are given a functional spec but no detailed technical design. How do you approach building the solution?
I start by clarifying ambiguous requirements with stakeholders. Then I design the database schema and API endpoints based on the spec, and build a prototype to validate the flow. I prioritize modularity so that changes can be easily accommodated. Regular check-ins with stakeholders ensure the solution aligns with their needs.
Describe your experience with cloud deployment. How would you deploy a Next.js application on Azure without DevOps support?
I have deployed several apps on Azure using App Service for the frontend and Functions or Container Instances for the backend. For a Next.js app, I would create an App Service with Node.js runtime, set up continuous deployment from a GitHub repo, and configure environment variables. I'd also use Azure Database for PostgreSQL and Blob Storage for any file uploads.

Who We Are

Launchpad Technologies Inc. is a global technology partner connecting top talent with high-impact projects across North America and beyond. We specialize in Staff Augmentation and product development, helping companies scale with agility while empowering professionals to grow in meaningful, remote-first environments.

What we are looking for

Our customer is in the middle of a deliberate shift from manual, spreadsheet-based operations to purpose-built web tools, and this contract sits right at the center of that work. They have already clearly defined the problems, designed the logic, and in several cases, already have working prototypes ready. What they need is an experienced Full-Stack Engineer to take those designs and prototypes to production-grade web applications.

The work spans several interconnected systems: real-time train tracking and delay management, crew scheduling analytics, automated guest seating allocation, and shift equity monitoring. Where appropriate, these tools will be enhanced with LLM-powered features (using API calls to models like Claude or DeepSeek) to automate narrative outputs, handle exceptions, and surface plain-English insights from structured data.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will work directly with operations leadership, not through layers of project management. The person in this role needs to move fast, communicate clearly about trade-offs, and build things that real operations teams can rely on under pressure.

📅Start date: June 2026
🖋️Contract type: Full-time, Contractor, 4 months with possibility of renewal/extension
🕘Work hours: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM PST
💻Work mode: 100% remote from LATAM

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Reverse-engineer data rules and functional prototypes currently trapped in manual spreadsheets or legacy VBA macros, transforming them into reliable web applications.
  • Take features from database schema design (PostgreSQL) and backend API development up to crafting modular, responsive UIs (React/Next.js & Tailwind).
  • Integrate LLM APIs into production workflows to automate operational narratives and extract structured insights.
  • Build secure integrations against third-party workforce management APIs and implement frontend data-streaming patterns (WebSockets, SSE, or polling) for live operational updates.
  • Stand up, configure, and manage your own application deployments on cloud platforms (Azure preferred) independently

What You Need to Succeed

Must-haves

  • +6 years of professional experience in Full-Stack Web Development.
  • Backend: Strong expertise in Python, C#, and/or Node.js.
  • Frontend: JavaScript/TypeScript and Next.js/React.
  • Databases: Solid experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred), designing schemas, writing queries, and managing migrations.
  • Integrations: Proven experience handling REST APIs (auth, pagination, rate limits) and LLM APIs (prompt engineering, structured outputs, context management).
  • Cloud Basics: Ability to deploy and host applications on cloud platforms (Azure preferred) without a dedicated DevOps resource.

Nice-to-haves & Bonus Points

  • Experience migrating Excel/VBA logic to web applications.
  • Familiarity with scheduling or workforce management system APIs (Connecteam, Workforce.com, Deputy, etc.).
  • Background building operations-facing tooling or working in rail, transit, hospitality, or tour operations environments.
  • Experience with real-time or near-real-time data display (websockets, SSE, or polling).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Graph API / Microsoft 365 integrations or data visualization libraries.
  • Comfort working from a functional spec rather than a fully detailed technical design

What to Expect from Our Hiring Process

We value your time and believe in a transparent, efficient selection process. Here is what our journey together will look like:

  1. HR Screening (60 mins): an initial conversation with our Talent Acquisition team to walk through your background, discuss the role’s context, and align on logistics (availability, contract model, and expectations).
  2. Team Engagement Interview (30 mins): a brief session with our Engagement Manager focused on cultural alignment, professional presentation, and communication skills. We want to ensure a mutual fit for our collaborative, flat-structured environment.
  3. Final Round: Technical Deep Dive (Up to 2 rounds, 60 mins each). A deep dive into your engineering experience. We will discuss system architecture, database design, and your hands-on experience with full-stack frameworks and LLM integrations. No trick questions, just an engineering-to-engineering discussion about real-world problem-solving.
