Key Skills

Data Center Program Management Land Development Site Selection Due Diligence Permitting Risk Management Cross-functional Leadership Client Management Infrastructure Planning

I am excited to apply for the Site Strategy Manager, Data Center Sites position at AECOM. With over 8 years of experience in land development and program management, including extensive work on hyperscale data center projects, I am confident in my ability to drive site strategy and portfolio development for your team.

My background includes leading cross-functional teams through due diligence, permitting, and infrastructure planning, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. I have a proven track record of building strong relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and local communities.

I am particularly drawn to AECOM's global reach and commitment to innovation, and I look forward to contributing to the company's data center practice. My experience with machine-learning program management tools aligns with AECOM's AI4Eng platform.

Thank you for considering my application. I am eager to discuss how my skills can support AECOM's mission of delivering a better world through infrastructure that powers the digital future.

Describe your experience managing data center site development projects. What factors do you prioritize when evaluating a potential site?
I have managed multiple hyperscale data center projects, focusing on site evaluation criteria such as power availability, fiber connectivity, environmental constraints, and zoning regulations. I prioritize sites with reliable grid capacity and low latency access to major networks, while also assessing risks like flood zones or community opposition.
How do you handle conflicting priorities among stakeholders (e.g., client, regulatory agencies, community)? Give an example.
In a recent project, the client wanted expedited permitting, but the local community raised concerns about environmental impact. I facilitated a meeting with all parties, presenting a revised plan that included additional green buffers and traffic mitigation, which satisfied both the client's timeline and the community's needs.
What strategies do you use to manage risk in large-scale infrastructure programs?
I conduct thorough due diligence early, identify critical path items, and develop contingency plans for delays in permits or utility connections. I also maintain regular risk registers and hold weekly review meetings with the team to monitor and mitigate emerging risks.
How have you used technology or data to improve project delivery?
I have implemented machine-learning tools to forecast project timelines and resource needs, and used GIS for site analysis. At AECOM, I would leverage AI4Eng to automate reporting and identify potential delays, improving efficiency and decision-making.
This role is remote but requires occasional travel. How do you maintain team cohesion and client relationships when working remotely?
I schedule regular virtual check-ins, use collaboration tools like Slack and Teams, and ensure transparent communication. For key milestones, I plan onsite visits to build rapport with clients and team members. I also foster a culture of accountability by setting clear goals and celebrating team achievements virtually.
