Sample interview questions
Can you describe a time when you exceeded your sales target? What strategies did you use?

In my previous role, I exceeded my annual quota by 20% by implementing a structured prospecting plan. I prioritized high-potential leads, used CRM data to track interactions, and conducted thorough needs assessments to tailor presentations. I also followed up consistently and leveraged referrals from existing customers to expand my pipeline.

How do you handle cold calling rejection and stay motivated?

I view rejection as a learning opportunity. I keep a positive mindset by focusing on the numbers and celebrating small wins. I set daily activity goals, review my pitch regularly, and remind myself that every 'no' brings me closer to a 'yes'. Staying organized and maintaining a routine helps me stay motivated and resilient.

Tell us about your experience with CRM systems. How do you use them to manage your sales funnel?

I have used Salesforce and similar CRMs to track leads, opportunities, and customer interactions. I rely on dashboards to prioritize follow-ups, set reminders for key milestones, and forecast revenue. By keeping data accurate and up-to-date, I can identify bottlenecks in the funnel and adjust my approach to improve conversion rates.

This role requires significant travel. How do you manage your time and territory effectively?

I plan my routes and appointments in advance to maximize efficiency, grouping meetings by geographic proximity. I use travel time for administrative tasks, such as follow-up emails and CRM updates. I also maintain a clear weekly schedule that balances customer visits, prospecting, and reporting, ensuring no time is wasted.

Describe a challenging customer complaint you resolved. What was the outcome?

A customer was unhappy with a product delivery delay and threatened to switch to a competitor. I listened attentively, acknowledged the issue, and immediately coordinated with our logistics team to expedite a replacement. I also provided a discount on the next order as a goodwill gesture. The customer appreciated my responsiveness and remained loyal, later placing larger orders.
