Sample interview questions
Describe your experience with ambulatory care revenue cycle operations, specifically in hospital outpatient departments and physician offices. How did you improve revenue cycle performance in those settings?

I have led revenue cycle improvement projects in both hospital outpatient and physician office environments, focusing on areas like charge capture, coding accuracy, and denial management. In one instance, I implemented a streamlined documentation workflow that reduced claim denials by 15% within six months. By analyzing data and collaborating with clinical and billing teams, I identified bottlenecks and introduced technology solutions that enhanced efficiency and revenue capture.

How do you tailor a sales strategy for diverse ambulatory clients, such as a small clinic versus a large hospital network?

I begin by understanding each client's unique operational pain points, financial goals, and maturity level. For a small clinic, I might emphasize ease of use, cost savings, and quick implementation. For a large hospital network, I focus on scalability, integration with existing EHR systems, and long-term strategic value. I leverage consultative questioning and industry benchmarks to position Solventum's solutions as the ideal fit for each client's specific context.

This role requires up to 75% travel. How do you maintain high productivity and client engagement while traveling frequently?

I prioritize organization and use digital tools to stay connected. I plan my travel clusters geographically to maximize face-to-face time while minimizing downtime. I also maintain a disciplined schedule for follow-ups, using CRM systems to track opportunities and client needs. Even on the road, I ensure virtual check-ins with account teams and clients to keep momentum, while protecting time for strategic thinking and preparation.

Tell us about a time you collaborated with multiple stakeholders (sales, marketing, product) to launch a new healthcare solution. What was your role and the outcome?

In a previous role, I worked on launching a new revenue cycle analytics product. I partnered with product marketing to develop target-market segmentation and with product management to understand feature differentiators. I then trained the sales team and created tailored sales playbooks. During the first quarter, we exceeded our sales target by 20%. This success came from aligning all stakeholders around a unified value proposition and ensuring consistent messaging.

How do you stay current with emerging trends and regulations in ambulatory care revenue cycle, and how do you apply that knowledge to sales strategy?

I regularly participate in industry conferences, webinars, and professional networks focused on healthcare revenue cycle and outpatient care trends. I also monitor regulatory changes like coding updates and payer policies. This knowledge helps me anticipate client challenges and position Solventum as a proactive partner. For example, when new outpatient billing rules took effect, I developed a targeted pitch highlighting our compliance and optimization tools, which helped close several major deals.
