Sample interview questions
I would conduct market research to identify customer needs and competitive dynamics, then segment the market based on potential revenue and growth. I would collaborate with engineering and marketing to tailor products and services, set pricing strategies, and create a sales plan with clear targets. I would also leverage customer relationships to gain insights and adjust the strategy based on feedback.
In my previous role, I led proposals for large transformer projects, coordinating with engineering to determine technical specifications and with finance to establish competitive yet profitable pricing. I used a structured approach to ensure accuracy and timeliness, and I often negotiated with suppliers to reduce costs. This experience helps me create compelling proposals that win business.
I focus on understanding the customer's key priorities and constraints, then present value-added solutions that justify the price. I prepare by analyzing market benchmarks and my own cost structure to set clear bottom lines. During negotiations, I maintain a collaborative tone while ensuring the deal meets our financial targets, and I use creative structuring to bridge gaps when necessary.
At my previous job, I led a cross-functional team to launch a new transformer product. I arranged regular meetings with engineering, marketing, and production to align on timelines and requirements. By communicating the sales targets and customer feedback, I motivated them to prioritize the project, and we successfully launched on time, exceeding the first-year sales target.
GE Vernova's power transformers are known for their reliability, efficiency, and advanced technology. Their global service network and strong R&D capabilities provide a competitive edge.
