Sample interview questions
Can you describe your experience managing multi-GAAP accounting for a legal entity, and how you ensure compliance with both local GAAP and US GAAP?

In my previous role, I was responsible for a German subsidiary that reported under US GAAP to the parent but also needed to prepare German GAAP financial statements. I maintained dual ledgers, reconciled differences, and worked with local advisors to ensure statutory compliance while meeting group reporting deadlines.

How have you used AI tools or LLMs to automate or improve accounting processes?

I've used AI tools to automate invoice categorization and reconciliation. For example, I implemented a solution that uses an LLM to extract data from vendor invoices and match them to purchase orders in NetSuite, reducing processing time by 30% and improving accuracy.

Walk me through your experience with NetSuite, particularly in managing multi-entity consolidations.

I have over 4 years of NetSuite experience, including administration of multiple subsidiaries. I've configured intercompany eliminations, managed the consolidation process, and used saved searches and reports to streamline monthly close. I'm comfortable with SuiteScript for custom automation.

How do you handle tight monthly reporting deadlines while ensuring accuracy across multiple entities?

I prioritize by maintaining a detailed closing checklist with clear ownership and deadlines. I use automation for recurring entries and reconciliations, and I communicate early with stakeholders to resolve issues proactively. This approach allows me to deliver accurate numbers on time.

Describe a time you supported an annual audit and how you prepared the required documentation.

During my last audit, I acted as the main liaison with auditors, providing PBC schedules, lead schedules, and supporting reconciliations. I proactively reviewed the financial statements for compliance and resolved audit queries efficiently, resulting in a clean audit opinion.
