Sample interview questions
Describe a pricing change you introduced that improved revenue or ARPU. How did you measure its impact?

I would begin with a baseline segmented by customer type, market, package, and discount level, then identify the highest-confidence pricing lever. I would launch a controlled rollout, monitor conversion, retention, ARPU, and discount behavior, and compare results with a credible control or pre-defined benchmark. I would scale only after confirming that the revenue gain was not offset by unacceptable churn or sales friction.

How would you investigate an unexpected decline in ARPU in one market?

I would decompose ARPU into price realization, package mix, discounting, new versus existing customers, and churn or downgrade behavior. I would validate the underlying data first, then compare the affected market with prior periods and similar markets to isolate the likely driver. From there, I would recommend a focused intervention, such as discount guardrails, package migration, or a targeted price reset, with clear success metrics.

How do you gain alignment when sales and pricing teams disagree on a price change?

I would make the trade-offs explicit using data, including expected conversion impact, revenue upside, customer segments affected, and operational risks. I would listen to sales feedback for market intelligence, distinguish evidence from anecdote, and propose a limited experiment when uncertainty remains. This creates a practical path to a decision while preserving stakeholder ownership and trust.

What would a sound behavioral experiment for a new pricing model look like?

I would define the hypothesis, eligible population, treatment and control groups, duration, guardrail metrics, and decision threshold before launch. The design would account for sales-process timing and avoid confounding changes such as simultaneous promotions or package changes. I would evaluate both immediate conversion and downstream outcomes, including realized price, retention risk, and operational feasibility.

How have you used SQL to support commercial or pricing decisions?

I have used SQL to pull transaction, subscription, discount, and customer-segment data into analysis-ready datasets. I typically build repeatable queries that reconcile source metrics, surface anomalies, and enable breakdowns by market, product, cohort, and sales channel. I then use spreadsheet models or dashboards to communicate the insight and recommended action clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

Job Description

This role is remote within Brazil

Your main project is the listing-based pricing rollout across markets. You’ll diagnose what’s working, propose fixes, get local and global teams on board, and roll out to new countries with clear targets and a steady weekly cadence. You’ll also shape how the model evolves for next year.

You’ll own the ARPU (average revenue per user) target for the segment. Alongside the main project, you’ll:

  • Move the ARPU target through specific pricing moves: tighter discount discipline, package mix shifts, price resets by market. Dig into anomalies fast.

  • Spot pricing opportunities across the marketplace that no one’s looking at, and make the case for them.

  • Own the segment’s pricing recommendations to GTM leadership: propose the moves, defend the trade-offs with data, turn decisions into rollout plans.

  • Drive alignment across sales, local commercial, and global teams on contested pricing calls, without formal authority.

  • Generate optimization hypotheses grounded in data.

  • Design and run behavioral experiments to validate pricing moves before scaling them.

  • Adjust and follow up on budget assumptions as we learn from the market.

  • Maintain country price lists in our internal systems.

Qualifications

What will help you thrive?

  • 5+ years in pricing, ideally SaaS or marketplace

  • Direct experience working with GTM or sales leaders on pricing decisions

  • Thorough with data. You back conclusions with numbers.

  • Comfort with ambiguity: you know when to stop analyzing and start testing

  • Ability to explain complex numbers simply

  • SQL good enough to pull your own data

  • Strong Google Sheets skills

  • Professional English, comfortable in meetings and writing (B2 or above)

  • Degree in economics, math, business, or similar

4️⃣ Hiring Manager Interview – A deeper conversation about your background, aspirations, and experience with Douglas Giehl (Global Pricing Director) and your potential manager in this role. Take this chance to ask anything on your mind—it’s just as much about making sure we’re the right fit for you, too.
