Cover letter sample
Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Site Reliability Engineer role at ecosio. My experience operating cloud infrastructure, improving CI/CD workflows, and building reliable Kubernetes-based services aligns closely with your focus on availability, scalability, security, and performance.
I would bring a practical, automation-first approach to AWS/Linux operations, observability, incident response, and sustainable infrastructure improvements. I am also comfortable collaborating with developers and participating in on-call rotations to keep critical systems dependable.
I would welcome the opportunity to help ecosio build resilient connections that work.
Sample interview questions
I would first define service-level indicators and objectives, then ensure dashboards and alerts focus on user-impacting symptoms such as latency, error rate, saturation, and availability. I would use Prometheus or Datadog for metrics, establish actionable alert thresholds, document runbooks, and review incidents to reduce repeat alerts and improve reliability.
I would inspect pod events, deployment status, resource requests and limits, service endpoints, ingress configuration, DNS, and relevant application and node logs. I would compare the current release with the last known healthy version, mitigate impact through rollback or traffic control where appropriate, and then perform root-cause analysis after service restoration.
I would manage infrastructure declaratively with Terraform, store reviewed code in version control, and use CI checks for formatting, validation, policy controls, and plan review. ArgoCD can continuously reconcile approved Git-defined Kubernetes state, while secrets should be handled through an appropriate secure secrets-management workflow rather than committed to source control.
I would use staged pipelines with reproducible builds, automated tests, image scanning, and versioned artifacts. For deployment safety, I would use progressive delivery or controlled rollouts, health checks, monitoring-based verification, and a tested rollback path; I would also keep pipeline changes reviewed and observable.
I would assess business impact, scope, and urgency, communicate clearly to stakeholders, and begin incident coordination with defined ownership. During the event I would prioritize service restoration, record key decisions and timestamps, and afterward lead a blameless review that produces concrete corrective actions such as automation, monitoring improvements, or capacity changes.
