I would begin by clarifying the user problem, success metrics, constraints, and edge cases with product and design. I would propose a small technical design covering UI state, API contracts, persistence, failure handling, analytics, and rollout strategy, then implement it behind appropriate tests and monitor release signals after launch.
I would use Instruments, crash reports, and targeted logging to establish a reproducible baseline and isolate whether the issue is CPU, memory, rendering, networking, or threading related. After making a focused change, I would validate the improvement with measurable before-and-after results and add regression coverage where practical.
I favor clear feature boundaries, dependency injection, testable business logic, and explicit state management. I choose patterns such as MVVM or a Redux-style approach based on the product’s complexity, while avoiding unnecessary abstraction and progressively improving legacy areas as features are touched.
I design the client around explicit loading, success, empty, and recoverable error states, with secure token handling and well-defined retry behavior. For unstable networks, I use caching and offline-aware flows where they provide user value, while ensuring requests are idempotent or safely retried when needed.
I use AI coding assistants to accelerate exploration, boilerplate, test generation, debugging hypotheses, and documentation, but I retain responsibility for design decisions and verification. I review generated code carefully, protect sensitive data, run tests and static checks, and validate behavior on real devices before shipping.

Role Overview
We’re looking for a Senior iOS Engineer to join our remote engineering team. You’ll work on meaningful, user-facing product features in our iOS app — building polished, performant, and reliable experiences that our users and creators rely on every day.
You’ll collaborate closely with Product and Design to deliver solutions aligned with real customer needs. This role is best suited for a senior individual contributor who enjoys hands-on development, product problem-solving, and working in a fast-moving startup environment.
Responsibilities
Design and implement new iOS features with a strong focus on usability, clarity, and delivering value to real users.
Build and maintain robust, scalable mobile architecture (including networking, data persistence, and state management) that supports fast iteration and long-term maintainability.
Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to translate requirements into practical, well-scoped technical solutions. Provide input during planning to ensure features are feasible, maintainable, and aligned with user and business goals.
Ensure high-quality releases through clean, readable, and well-tested code. Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared standards around quality, testing, and maintainability.
Take ownership of the features you build. Identify issues or gaps, propose improvements, and iterate based on feedback. You’re comfortable working with ambiguity and adapting as requirements evolve.
Improve app performance and reliability by diagnosing bottlenecks, addressing crashes, and strengthening overall stability and user experience.
Requirements
5+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on iOS development. Proven experience shipping production iOS applications end-to-end.
Strong proficiency in Swift and modern iOS development practices. Ability to build responsive, user-friendly interfaces with attention to detail and performance.
Experience with modern iOS UI patterns, including handling complex navigation, animations, and edge cases in real-world production apps.
Active daily use of AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or similar) for development, debugging, and problem-solving. We expect engineers to leverage these tools to ship faster and work through complex problems.
Strong understanding of networking on iOS (REST/GraphQL), including authentication flows, caching strategies, error handling, and offline/unstable network scenarios.
Experience designing maintainable architectures (e.g. MVVM, Redux-style state management, Clean Architecture, or similar) and improving existing codebases over time.
Solid understanding of iOS performance and debugging tools (e.g. Instruments, crash reporting, profiling) and the ability to diagnose issues effectively.
Strong communication skills in English. Comfortable working in a remote, cross-timezone team and collaborating asynchronously.
Nice to Have
Experience with other frontend or mobile technologies, such as React Native or React.js, and an interest in cross-platform product development.
Experience with SwiftUI in production and building scalable design systems.
Experience integrating and maintaining third-party SDKs (analytics, payments, video, attribution).
Experience implementing and maintaining subscription flows on iOS
Familiarity with CI/CD for iOS (Fastlane, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, or similar) and improving developer velocity.
Experience working in a startup or fast-growing product company.
