I would begin by clarifying the user outcome, input and output formats, privacy constraints, and acceptable failure modes. I would use a well-defined API contract, validate and sanitize inputs, add structured error handling and observability, and build a fallback path for model failures or low-confidence responses. Before release, I would test representative and edge-case documents with product and QA partners.
I would separate presentation components from state and API concerns, use reusable components, and keep state predictable through Redux patterns. I would prioritize clear loading, error, and empty states, then test the critical user flow with unit and integration tests. I would also work with design and QA early to ensure the feature is accessible and understandable.
I would first reproduce the issue using logs, traces, and a minimal test case, then determine whether the bottleneck is in the application, database, external API, or infrastructure. Depending on the findings, I might improve query indexing, reduce unnecessary work, introduce asynchronous processing, cache safe results, or add retries with backoff for transient external failures. I would verify the fix with monitoring and load testing.
I would share progress early, identify the specific dependency and its impact, and propose options rather than simply escalating the problem. For example, I could use a mocked API contract, split the work into an independently releasable portion, or agree on a temporary interface with the partner team. I would document the decision and keep stakeholders informed until the dependency is resolved.
I would treat feedback as information that improves both the implementation and my engineering judgment. I would ask clarifying questions if needed, address the highest-impact issues first, and explain any trade-offs respectfully when I see a different approach. Afterward, I would look for recurring themes and apply them proactively in future pull requests.

We’re building a groundbreaking new product line that will transform the insurance broker experience through AI and machine learning. As an AI-Driven Full Stack Engineer, you’ll be part of a team charting new territory – designing and implementing intelligent systems that automate manual processes and unlock powerful data-driven insights.
You will work across the stack, contributing to front end, back end, and AI/ML initiatives, while also participating in architecture discussions, release planning, and company-wide engineering initiatives. Our core stack includes Python, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, n8n, LangChain/LangGraph and AWS, and we are always open to adopting new tools and technologies that help us deliver better results.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop full stack features for our AI-powered web application using Python, React, Redux, PostgreSQL and AWS
- Integrate AI models and APIs for tasks like document processing, data extraction, recommendation engines etc.
- Work closely with Sr. Engineers experienced in AI to seamlessly integrate models into production
- Stay current on emerging AI technologies/frameworks and explore new applications
- Build scalable, reliable backend services to fuel our AI workflows
- Create intuitive user experiences that surface AI-powered capabilities
- Participate in architecture planning, code reviews, and ideation sessions
- Take ownership of feature development end-to-end (once ramped up), coordinating with QA and other teams
- Engage in cross-team communication to help unblock dependencies and improve release flow
- Share ideas during quarterly planning to help shape what we build next
- Participate in company-wide initiatives such as hackathons, engineering guilds, and AI tooling experiments
What we are looking for:
- Strong full-stack development skills with the ability to work across backend and frontend using Python, React, Redux, PostgreSQL, and AWS

- Compensation: The total cash compensation for this role is $85,000 – $115,000 CAD, based on experience. In addition, there is a competitive bonus program and opportunity for equity. We’ll walk through the details together during the interview.
