Cover letter sample
Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Chief Executive Officer role supporting a high-growth B2B SaaS business within saas.group. My experience leading commercial strategy, owning revenue and P&L outcomes, and building aligned go-to-market teams would enable me to help convert strong product momentum into durable international growth.
I bring a hands-on, data-driven leadership approach across pricing, sales, marketing, operating cadence, and profitability. I am particularly motivated by the opportunity to partner with a technical founder while developing a scalable leadership layer and clear commercial execution model.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can help build a globally minded, profitable SaaS business.
Sample interview questions
I would begin with a rapid diagnostic of customer segments, retention, pipeline quality, pricing, unit economics, team capability, and the current operating cadence. I would then align the founder and leadership team around a small set of measurable priorities for growth, profitability, and international expansion, with clear owners and weekly reporting.
I use a segmented approach that combines willingness-to-pay research, customer value realization, competitive positioning, conversion data, retention impact, and gross-margin implications. I would test changes carefully by segment and ensure the sales, marketing, product, and customer-success teams can clearly communicate the resulting value proposition.
I establish one shared commercial plan with common definitions, targets, funnel metrics, ideal-customer-profile assumptions, and regular feedback loops. Sales should provide structured market insight, while marketing should be accountable for qualified demand and pipeline contribution rather than isolated activity metrics.
I focus on a balanced scorecard that includes recurring revenue growth, net revenue retention, churn, gross margin, customer acquisition cost, payback period, operating expenses, and cash generation. The right trade-offs depend on the company’s maturity and market opportunity, but decisions should always be tied to explicit economic assumptions.
I set a clear strategic context, define decision rights and outcomes, hire or develop strong functional leaders, and maintain an operating rhythm that surfaces risks early. In a remote environment, this also requires deliberate written communication, transparent dashboards, and regular one-to-one leadership coaching.

Profile Overview
The business you’d be joining is a proven B2B SaaS product with a loyal customer base and healthy growth (20-30% year on year), built by a strong product team. You’ll have an opportunity to have tremendous impact on the commercial side, strengthen the go-to-market strategy and set the international operating rhythm a fast-growing, globally used product deserves. You’ll work alongside the technical founder and will take full ownership of turning strong growth into a globally minded commercial business.
Your responsibilities
- Own the full P&L and set the strategic direction for the business
- Scale the go-to-market function to match the growing international reach of the product, with sales and marketing operating off one clear strategy
- Balance continued growth with a clear path to improved profitability, backed by sound commercial and operational decisions
- Lead and coach the existing management team, building a strong, aligned leadership layer as the business scales internationally
- Build the operating rigor, from pricing to reporting, that supports competing and scaling into new markets
- Represent the business externally and collaborate with the wider saas.group portfolio and leadership team
What You bring to the table
- A strong track record built over several years, marked by continuous growth in scope and responsibility, whether that’s as a CEO, GM, or in another senior commercial role.
- Real ownership of commercial or financial outcomes (P&L, revenue, GTM), with a clear pattern of taking on more.
- Experience leading a team of 7+ people and leading through at least one layer of management, even if the team wasn’t huge
- A go-to-market background in B2B SaaS (product, marketing, or sales) with hands-on exposure to building or scaling a commercial function.
- A genuinely international mindset, or a clear track record of bringing one to a business that hasn’t had it yet.
- Fluent English and real comfort operating with autonomy and minimal structure. First-time CEOs, and people making their first move into a bigger commercial remit, are very welcome to apply.
What’s in it for You
- Ultimate flexibility: We’re 100% remote. You can work from wherever you like, whenever you like.
- Freedom and autonomy: We’re a high-trust team, and you’ll be given lots of flexibility to solve problems in your own way — with plenty of help from the team when you need it.
- Minimum bureaucracy: We don’t like to get bogged down with meetings and red tape. We like to be efficient and keep momentum steady & sustainable.
- Small & friendly team: We help each other out, have fun, and joke around.
- Our network: We are a community of entrepreneurial SaaS professionals that regularly exchange ideas, knowledge, learning and expertise with each other internally.
- Flexible time off: We want you to recharge your batteries when needed.
We don’t just simply offer you to “take a job with us” but rather to “join us on this journey” to build the world’s largest platform of independent SaaS companies.
Sounds like something you’re up for? Feel free to apply even if you don’t check all these boxes. We believe in the power of diversity and fresh perspectives to spice up our team. Your application might just be the missing ingredient!
