Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Senior Deal Desk Manager - EMEA role at Amplitude. My experience structuring complex SaaS transactions, partnering with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Revenue Operations, and balancing commercial opportunity with policy and revenue-recognition risk aligns strongly with this position.
I would bring disciplined judgment, collaborative stakeholder management, and a systems-oriented approach to improving quote-to-order processes, pricing governance, and approval workflows. I am particularly motivated by the opportunity to act as a trusted player-coach and help scale an international Deal Desk function.
Thank you for your consideration; I would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can support Amplitude's growth across EMEA.
Sample interview questions
I would begin by defining the customer objective, commercial upside, requested deviations, and timing constraints. I would then assess each term against pricing policy, revenue-recognition requirements, legal risk, implementation capacity, and precedent; where a deviation is justified, I would present clear options with trade-offs and obtain the appropriate approvals before documenting the decision.
I build credibility by engaging early, understanding the sales team's desired outcome, and offering commercially viable alternatives rather than simply rejecting requests. I communicate the rationale and risk in practical terms, distinguish non-negotiable controls from flexible areas, and ensure decisions are timely so governance supports rather than delays selling.
I would map the existing quote-to-order workflow, analyze approval cycle times and common exception types, and identify manual handoffs or recurring errors. I would standardize policies and templates, use Salesforce CPQ rules and approval automation where appropriate, and track adoption and measurable outcomes such as turnaround time, error rates, and margin protection.
I would clarify the decision owner, separate facts from stakeholder preferences, and frame the issue around customer impact, financial exposure, legal enforceability, and policy consistency. If consensus remains difficult, I would escalate with a concise recommendation, alternatives, and documented risk so leadership can make an informed decision quickly.
I would establish transparent decision criteria, service-level expectations, and a regular review cadence for deal quality and exceptions. I would coach team members through live cases, document precedents, and use trend data to improve policies and training while giving individuals appropriate authority to make decisions.
Amplitude is building the operating system for digital product innovation—and our Deal Desk team sits right at the centre of how we monetise that vision. This team partners deeply with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Revenue Accounting to structure smart, scalable deals that accelerate growth without introducing risk.
As a Senior Deal Desk Manager, you’ll act as player/coach with a view to progress into a people manager role to lead our International Deal Desk team. You will act as the senior strategic advisor on our most complex international deals and operate with real autonomy — given clear guardrails, but trusted to make the call. You’ll help shape deal strategy, guide pricing and contract decisions, and bring clarity to ambiguity—all while keeping the business moving fast.
As a Senior Deal Desk Manager, you will:
Support Amplitude’s International Deal Desk team — supporting with hiring, coaching, and setting the bar for how the team partners with Sales, Finance, and Legal
Own deal strategy for complex, high-risk international deals, advising Sales leadership on pricing, packaging, contract terms, and negotiation strategy — including setting precedent where policy doesn’t yet exist
Review and approve complex non-standard transactions end-to-end, ensuring approvals align with revenue recognition, legal, and operational policy
Act as the connective tissue across Sales, Legal, Finance, RevOps, and Accounting, resolving disagreements and driving alignment across time zones
Scale the Quote to Order process — codifying best practices and driving adoption of AI tools and automation across the team
You’ll be a great addition to the team if:
You’re genuinely comfortable operating in ambiguity as the senior decision-maker on the ground.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment with high-stakes deals that require creative thinking and sound judgment.
You build trust with Sales by being a valued partner—creative, collaborative, and solution-oriented—while still holding the line when it matters.
You’re energised by cross-functional collaboration and know how to drive alignment across strong personalities and competing priorities.
You have sharp judgment on risk and detail, balanced with knowing when a rule should flex and when it shouldn’t.
You’re a clear, thoughtful communicator with strong critical thinking skills and a constant drive to improve systems, processes, and how teams work together
At a minimum, you need to have:
Significant experience in Deal Desk, Sales Operations, or a similar deal strategy role in a SaaS or subscription-based business, including complex, enterprise-scale transactions
A track record of operating autonomously and making independent decisions, ideally in an international, remote, or distributed-team setting removed from the core of a leadership team
Experience designing or evolving deal desk policy, pricing frameworks, or approval processes — not just operating within them
Experience partnering with Legal and Finance on non-standard terms and approvals
Proficiency with Salesforce (CPQ experience strongly preferred) and comfort working with data and complex deal scenarios
Familiarity with channel selling model and transacting through cloud marketplaces
