Cover letter sample

Dear Hiring Team,

I am excited to apply for the Sr. Product Marketing Manager, Acquia Source role. My product marketing background combines strategic positioning, differentiated messaging, and end-to-end launch leadership for SaaS products serving sophisticated marketing and digital-experience buyers.

I would bring a value-led approach to translating CMS and DAM capabilities into compelling field assets, competitive narratives, and customer-facing demonstrations. I am particularly drawn to Acquia's AI-native direction and would use AI thoughtfully to accelerate research, strengthen execution, and preserve focus on high-impact strategic decisions.

I would welcome the opportunity to help Acquia Source sharpen its market narrative, enable the field, and deliver successful launches.

Sample interview questions
How would you develop differentiated positioning for Acquia Source in a crowded CMS and DAM market?

I would begin with buyer research, win/loss insights, customer interviews, and competitive analysis to identify high-value problems that competitors address poorly. I would then turn those findings into a concise positioning framework linking Acquia Source capabilities to measurable marketing outcomes, validate it with sales and customers, and operationalize it through messaging, proof points, and enablement.

Describe your process for leading an end-to-end product launch.

I define the target audience, customer problem, business objective, and launch tier first. I then align product, sales, demand generation, customer success, and communications around a single narrative, build the required assets and enablement, and establish success metrics such as pipeline influence, adoption, and sales readiness. After launch, I review performance and use the findings to improve follow-up campaigns and future releases.

How do you distinguish a meaningful agentic AI strategy from basic automation?

A meaningful agentic strategy is grounded in a clear user objective, trusted context, defined actions, appropriate controls, and measurable business value. Basic automation may save steps, but it does not necessarily reason across context or execute coordinated tasks. I would communicate this distinction through concrete customer workflows, outcomes, and credible product proof rather than generic AI claims.

How would you enable sales teams to sell value rather than features?

I would create a value-selling framework that connects customer signals to business value and recommended actions. This would include persona-specific talk tracks, discovery questions, competitive battlecards, objection handling, proof points, and demo paths that show how product capabilities improve marketing speed, governance, content performance, or digital-experience outcomes.

What makes a product demo effective for a marketing-buyer audience?

An effective demo starts with the buyer's real problem and follows a focused story rather than a feature tour. I would show the relevant workflow, explain why each capability matters, use credible customer context where possible, and close by connecting the experience to measurable outcomes. I would also tailor depth and language to the audience, whether executives, marketing practitioners, or technical stakeholders.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director of Product Marketing for Source, the Sr. Product Marketing Manager owns the positioning, messaging, launches, and feature-release support for Acquia Source, our agentic SaaS CMS and DAM solution for marketing teams. You turn Source’s capabilities into the assets the field uses to win marketing buyers.

This role is a balance of strategy and fast paced execution but it is not an isolated content-production role. You decide where the message matters and make it sharp, and you use AI to handle the rest. Acquia Source is an AI-native product, so we expect you to be an AI-native marketer. We use AI to do the job better and faster, and everyone on this team demos and presents on stage.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own positioning and messaging for Source CMS and DAM.
  • Run launches and feature-release support end to end.
  • Maintain competitive coverage for the content and marketing-cloud category with support from our head of competitive intelligence
  • Build AEO / AI-citation proof points and sales-play assets on a value-selling spine (Signal > Value > Action).
  • Partner with the Source Evangelist (user-facing proof and technical content) and with Demand Gen.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in product marketing or a closely related role.
  • A strategist, not a content marketer. You think critically about the moments of impact and drive the positioning, rather than producing assets on a treadmill.
  • AI-first ways of working. You use AI to move faster and automate low-value work, and you can tell real agentic strategy from automation in a dressed-up costume.
  • Presentation and demo skills. Everyone here presents and demos on stage; you are compelling live, in a product demo, a customer session, or a conference talk.
  • Strong, clear writing that turns product capability into marketing-buyer value, and reliable launch execution.
  • Experience in CMS and DAM categories is a must

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working knowledge of AEO / GEO.
  • Familiarity with Drupal and the Acquia product line
