About this role.
AlphaSense is seeking an existing-business Account Executive to grow and retain financial-services accounts across the United States. The role is a strategic farming position focused on upsells, new-team prospecting within current clients, product demonstrations, trials, forecasting, and closing expansion opportunities. The successful candidate will understand buy-side and sell-side financial markets and preferably have SaaS, financial-information, or research-sales experience. This position partners closely with marketing and product specialists while relaying client and market feedback to product and go-to-market teams. It requires strong executive communication, disciplined pipeline management, and periodic client travel.

Sample interview questions
I start with account segmentation based on adoption, business units, renewal timing, strategic initiatives, and whitespace. I review usage and stakeholder feedback, map decision-makers and champions, then prioritize opportunities according to customer value, likelihood to close, and revenue potential. I build a mutual action plan that connects the expansion to measurable client outcomes.
I would first understand the team's research workflow, information gaps, and time-sensitive decisions. I would position the platform around relevant use cases such as accelerating diligence, surfacing differentiated insights, monitoring companies, and consolidating trusted content. A focused demonstration and trial plan would validate value against the team's actual workflow and success criteria.
In a stalled opportunity, I would reassess the stakeholder map and identify the underlying blocker, such as unclear business value, limited user adoption, budget timing, or an unaddressed technical concern. I would re-engage the champion with a concise value case, involve the right internal specialists, and agree on specific next steps and decision criteria. This approach restores momentum by replacing assumptions with a mutual plan.
I use defined stage-exit criteria, validate compelling events and decision processes directly with buyers, and maintain close plans for material opportunities. I distinguish pipeline from forecast, update risks promptly, and review conversion patterns regularly. This creates a realistic forecast while highlighting the actions needed to improve coverage.
I tailor the message to each audience. For end users, I focus on workflow improvements, practical use cases, and evidence from a hands-on demonstration; for executives, I connect the platform to strategic priorities, risk reduction, productivity, and return on investment. In both cases, I use clear language, relevant examples, and verified customer outcomes rather than product jargon.
