About this role.
Mozilla is hiring a senior product leader to define and launch a new PC-gaming product and business within its New Products organization. The Director of Product will own market strategy, product vision, monetization, go-to-market planning, metrics, and roadmap execution from early concept through growth. The role leads cross-disciplinary design and engineering resources while aligning leadership and partner teams around customer value and business outcomes. Candidates need substantial product-management and gaming-industry experience, especially with PC/desktop gaming ecosystems, early-stage product development, and people leadership. This is a high-impact remote-US role combining entrepreneurial product building with executive-level communication and external thought leadership.

Sample interview questions
I would begin with market segmentation, player needs, ecosystem mapping, and competitor analysis across distribution, discovery, community, and monetization. I would identify where Mozilla has credible advantages, validate the highest-potential customer problem through qualitative and quantitative research, and define a focused thesis with measurable assumptions for an initial product.
I start by framing the customer problem and business hypothesis, then align a small cross-functional team on a minimum viable product and clear success metrics. I use rapid customer feedback, behavioral data, and disciplined prioritization to iterate, while communicating trade-offs and evidence to stakeholders until the product demonstrates repeatable customer value and growth potential.
I would establish product principles that protect user trust and ensure monetization is transparent, optional where appropriate, and tied to genuine player value. Decisions would be evaluated through player satisfaction, retention, engagement, and business metrics, with explicit review of privacy, accessibility, and long-term ecosystem effects.
The metric set would include acquisition and activation, retention cohorts, engagement frequency, feature adoption, conversion and revenue where applicable, customer satisfaction, and qualitative feedback themes. I would pair these with leading indicators for the core customer value proposition and use them to guide roadmap decisions rather than optimizing a single metric in isolation.
I make the product strategy, target customer, decision criteria, and success measures explicit early. I create regular forums for reviewing evidence and trade-offs, listen carefully to each discipline’s constraints, and make clear decisions with documented rationale so teams can move forward with trust even when every request cannot be prioritized.
