Sample interview questions
How have you built a strategic partnership that moved beyond a vendor relationship?

I begin by aligning on shared scientific and business outcomes, then establish a governance cadence with clear owners, decision rights, milestones, and escalation paths. I maintain proactive communication on risks and opportunities so the relationship becomes a collaborative program rather than a transactional service arrangement.

How would you evaluate a new oncology study partnership before contracting?

I would assess clinical relevance, strategic fit, feasibility, expected data and sample availability, publication potential, and algorithm-validation value. I would also identify IP, consent, PHI, and secondary-use requirements early, documenting these priorities so they can be reflected in the agreement and operational handoff.

Describe your approach to coordinating complex research agreements with legal and external partners.

I create a structured issue log covering business terms, data rights, IP, publication language, protocol and ICF dependencies, and required approvals. I translate legal questions into practical choices for scientific stakeholders, maintain version control and deadlines, and communicate decisions promptly to avoid unnecessary negotiation delays.

How would you protect Natera's secondary-use interests while maintaining a positive partner experience?

I would raise secondary-use objectives early and explain their scientific rationale in a transparent, partner-respectful way. I would seek precise, compliant language covering permitted data use, residual samples, publication review, and governance, while distinguishing essential protections from areas where flexibility is appropriate.

What metrics would you use to assess alliance health and performance?

I would track contract cycle time, study onboarding milestones, deliverable quality and timeliness, unresolved-risk aging, partner satisfaction, and realization of strategic value such as usable data, samples, validation opportunities, and publication rights. I would review these metrics regularly with internal and external governance teams and act quickly on emerging issues.
